To say that society puts a lot of pressure on us to look a certain way is a vast understatement. Because of the absolutely ridiculous idea that stomachs are supposed to be flat and our bodies shouldn't have rolls, many women turn to Spanx or other shapewear to hold things in underneath their clothes. As someone who has worn shapwear, I can attest to the fact that it can be HARD WORK to shimmy into. That's why women across the internet are loving one mom's hilarious video that perfectly shows the struggle of squeezing into shapewear.
Laura, the mom blogger behind Knee Deep In Life, took to Facebook to share a video of her attempting to try shapewear for her tummy.
In the video, Laura says she likes her rolls and she likes carbs, but other people "don't get that memo." So, she decided to try shapewear.
"I ordered something and it's arrived today and I'm mega excited because I'm pretty sure that I'm going to have the stomach of Jennifer Lopez," she said.
She ordered it smaller than her normal size, because she heard “the smaller the better.”
However, for those of us who have worn Spanx, we know that they're hard enough to put on in the correct size, let alone try to force yourself into one that is a size too small.
“It’s the size of my thigh,” she said in the video, as she pulls it up her leg.
After an exhausting struggle to pull the girdle up onto her stomach, she accidentally rips it!
Once it finally makes it onto her midsection, it rolls right up -- and becomes even more of a struggle.
She expressed that she was in serious pain and may have “damaged internal organs."
"When you believe you've just stumbled across the future, but actually all you've done is given yourself hemorrhoids from straining so hard to get the f*cker off," she wrote on Facebook.
"Kids, can you come and help mummy," she yells.
"I think I'm going to have to get some scissors."
