For most couples. a maternity shoot is an opportunity to sweetly welcome a new life into their family. We're used to seeing couples sweetly embracing in a field or playing up the time of year with a season-themed shoot. What we aren't used to? Those shoots turning bloody. But hey! If you're taking your maternity photos in October, right before Halloween, why not have a little fun?
Todd and Nicole Cameron began their sweet maternity shoot like any other fall-loving couple: in a gorgeous pumpkin patch.
The pumpkin patch is always a scenic and fun idea if you have a baby due in Autumn. It might be a bit cliché, maybe, but who cares? If it's your thing, you should totally go for it.
But the couple, who was due toward the end of October, wanted to do something a little extra special for their shoot.
That is why they decided to get a little weird with it. We totally have to applaud their creativity, because we were absolutely not expecting anything like what we saw when we first glimpsed these photos.
They are definitely weird, like really weird.
Instead of keeping things sweet and simple, the couple presented what it'd be like to give birth. They used their acting skills to pretend that the woman had gone into labor during the photo shoot.
Well, 'give birth' to an alien, that is.
"I found the alien chestburster model at a garage sale this summer," Todd told CafeMom at the time. "As I was putting it together and painting it, the idea of this shoot came to me. I talked to my wife and she wasn't keen on a regular maternity shoot, so we decided that this would be a fun way to spread some laughs."
Once they got past the gory part, the Camerons made sure to maximize their shoot time to get all the laughs.
Todd told CafeMom his favorite images are of him chasing after his new bundle of joy. It's a pretty disturbing, albeit quite hilarious, sight to see.
Here's to hoping these two keep their sense of humor all throughout their parenting journey together.
We bet their kids are gonna have a blast celebrating Halloween with all the spooky, fall vibes each and every year. They are so lucky to have such fun parents!
Keep it weird and wonderful, guys!
We can't wait to see your next family photo shoot!
