Woman Catches MIL Tampering With Her Birth Control & Unfortunately, It Worked

Children aren't for everyone and no matter how pushy the in-laws can be, it's ultimately up to each couple if, when, and how they'd like to become parents. Unfortunately, not all want-to-be grandparents get this, and one woman took her desire to become a grandma so far that it's making other mother-in-laws look much more sane.

An anonymous woman shared that she and her husband aren't interested in becoming parents. Ever.

The wife shared on Reddit that she and her husband are "adamantly childfree people."

And this isn't a topic that they are still figuring out. They both know that they don't want kids and are happy with that. "Basically, we don't want to have kids … ever. We are in our late twenties and we enjoy our carefree lives so much that we decided that we thought it would be best to never have kids," she wrote. "Some people call us 'selfish' for not wanting kids. I personally think they're just jealous because we choose to spoil ourselves instead. Anyways, I don't judge people with kids so I expect the same respect."

So out of respect for her MIL, she and her husband broke the "sad" news to her in person over the holidays.

Although the pair did it with the best intentions so that her MIL wouldn't be clinging onto false hope, it didn't go well. "Instantly she went into hysterics about how 'the bloodline and family name will die," she wrote.

But she also pointed out that her husband has two sisters and that she never even took her husband's name to begin with, so his mom is being dramatic. "MIL was very upset and short with [my husband] throughout the entire holiday season. When Xmas day came and we wished her a merry Christmas, she replied with 'you too.'" she wrote. "I told him she's a grown woman and will accept our decision in time (lol)."

But things only got worse as her MIL took time to process their news ...

"All is well so far this year and we still are barely talking to this woman which is fine by me as we were never really close," she wrote.

But then sh*t hit the fan when her MIL came over to visit her husband, while she was still at work, and asked if she could stay to cook them a nice meal. "She brought some groceries to make dinner, but she 'forgot' something so she asked if [my husband] could run to the store that's right down the street to get this thing she 'forgot,'" she wrote.

By the time she got home from work, she saw that her husband's car wasn't in the driveway so she assumed he and his mom went out somewhere, so she heads upstairs to change. "When I opened the door into our bedroom what I see is what looks like MIL carefully trying to poke holes into our condoms. She snaps her head in my direction with this mortifying deer in the headlights look on her face. Like a fish out of water," she wrote. "She mumbles something about how she's 'trying to save the family' and frantically runs out of the house before I even have a chance to say anything."

As MIL tried to make a run for it, her daughter-in-law started chasing her, demanding answers.

"She ignores me and peels out almost running over my foot. When [my husband] gets home I tell him what happened and he is absolutely horrified," she wrote. "He says he can't believe it and never thought she was capable of such a thing. She's a 'sweet old lady.'"

She was left trembling because she realizes that this likely isn't the first time that her MIL did this. "MIL came over to visit my husband while I was out with my friends about 3 weeks ago. I never saw her during that visit and DH told me she used the bathroom a few times during her visit and thought nothing of it," she wrote. "Now we're very worried that there is a chance this isn't the first time she's tampered with our birth control."

It turns out her hunch was right because she just found out that she's pregnant.

In an updated post, the woman revealed that it turns out her MIL's tampering was successful.

"I went to the doctor's last Friday and found out that I am indeed pregnant. I'm so distraught that I haven't been able to sleep in the last four days," she wrote. "At this point we haven't even spoke or contacted MIL. She's been blowing up our phones for the last three days, but we haven't responded."

Naturally, this mom explained that she's now at a loss of what to do and is in a very dark place — all thanks to her husband's mother. "I mean I never wanted to have kids sure, but at the same time having an abortion feels so wrong to me even though it's the most ideal thing to do right now," she wrote. "I can't believe I'm in this situation right now. I don't know what I'm going to do."

In the meantime, she commented that she hasn't even been able to tell her friends or family yet because she's so upset and asked the Internet for help.

Many people online are just sick that a MIL would stoop this low and are at a loss of what advice to even give.

"Taking this further, there is no wrong choice here. Whatever you decide is right for you is the correct choice. You can't get this one wrong," one user wrote. "There's a lot of outcomes but none of them are wrong if you do what you think is best."

Others were outraged and consider grandma's actions sexual assault.

"I'm so so sorry you are in this awful situation. If at all possible you should 100% press charges -- this was a sexual assault, hands down," another person wrote.

"I’m so angry for you, OP. This was an unfathomable violation of your bodily autonomy and integrity as well as your trust," someone commented. "This woman is evil and deserves no quarter and no place in your life."

"I wonder if it's possible to sue for permanent financial support from someone who doesn't impregnate you, but deliberately conspires to make you pregnant," someone wondered. "I mean, that must be a crime right? 'Involuntary insertion of a fetus' or something."

But everyone is making it clear, no matter what she chooses, this woman has endless support from equally pissed women across the Internet.

"My heart breaks for you. This is a position you never should have been put in," one person added.

As she decides what to do about the pregnancy, this woman did end up making a few major decisions: "We filed a police report on Saturday. This has been documented. At the very least we're hoping a quick RO can take place," she added. "IF I do decide to keep this baby, she will absolutely have no access to this baby. The only nice thing about this whole mess is the thought of us raising this kid with her in the background."
