We all like to think our children are gifted, and the truth is, we all have unique gifts. But very few of our toddlers are actually math geniuses, not even a 2-year-old who can already count to 100. In fact, very few of us adults are math geniuses. But for one 3-year-old toddler, who goes by the name Izzy G, who has a love for all things STEM, it seems he actually is approaching genius territory.
His mom showcases his brilliance on social media, much to the shock and amazement of his followers, who might need a calculator to complete some of the same work Izzy does in his head, effortlessly.
His mother says that at this point Izzy teaches himself.
Isaiah Gyamfi, who is of Ghanaian descent, has limitless skills. He can do complex multiplication, division, square roots, etc. Although his parents have obviously planted the seed and have done a great job of nurturing and expanding Izzy’s interests, at this point there are a lot of skills he teaches himself.
In one video, where Izzy doubled numbers up to 65,000, his mother, Jazelle, who is a teacher, wrote: “I hear him in his room teaching himself all these new things every day, without fail and I think d—, I didn’t even know the answer to that! ”
He also a passion for languages.
In addition to his math skills, Izzy also loves languages. He often completes math problems using Roman numerals. He taught himself how to spell numbers in both Italian and French. Earlier this month, he tackled Spanish. His mother said he knows his numbers in nine different languages, including Japanese.
Izzy has shown an interest in math from infancy.
Izzy’s type of genius can’t easily be explained. But his mother told The Mirror that from just 5 months old, Izzy began noticing patterns in numbers.
“When he first noticed patterns in numeracy it was game over! He still looks for patterns to this day, but his knowledge of maths now have got him to a point he can comprehend what he’s doing and applies it to real life situations!” she explained.
People are trying to find the answer to Izzy's genius.
Naturally, people want to know the secret behind Izzy being so smart. In the comment section under one of his videos, one woman wrote, “You must have been eating your greens.”
Jazelle responded, “I had really bad morning sickness throughout my pregnancy. I couldn’t really eat that well. But he eats well & drinks a lot of water.”
The Instagram user concluded, “Wow! It’s in the genes then.”
