An emotional video posted on TikTok shows that a newborn baby clearly still feels connected to her late mom. In the video, the baby’s aunt revealed that the infant’s mother had died but that she has a plush toy that contains a recording of her mom’s heartbeat.
“My sister passed away,” the baby’s aunt wrote on TikTok. “And her daughter knows her heartbeat.”

The video begins with the baby crying.
In the video, the baby’s aunt explains that the baby was crying because she wanted her bear. She appears to be reaching for something as she cries. Her aunt, who goes by @lulasmith65 on TikTok, knew how to make the baby girl stop crying immediately.
With the help of her bear, the baby stopped crying right away.
The sound the baby’s bear made seemed to bring her an immediate sense of comfort. As soon as her aunt gives her the bear and plays the sound the bear makes, the newborn stops crying and starts to calm down. “Her bear holds her mother’s heart,” the aunt explains in the video.

Though the baby’s time with her mom was limited, she clearly still had a bond with her. At the end of the video, the baby falls to sleep while listening to her mom’s heartbeat. Her aunt rocks her back and forth and holds the toy bear beside her. “That’s the only way she’ll stop (crying),” she shares.
To many others, the video was both heartbreaking and heartwarming.
“This is so amazing and heartbreaking at the same time,” one person shared on TikTok. Another person wrote that the bond between the baby and her late mom is simultaneously the “saddest and sweetest thing.” A third TikTok user commented, “absolutely beautiful and amazing the way she calmed down as soon as she hear[d] her mother’s heartbeat.”
