The Furby Toys You Remember as a Kid Are Making a Comeback & We Found the Best Ones

They say all things old become new again, and that’s certainly the case with the resurgence of beloved 1990s childhood toys like Furby returning.

Popular toys that millennial parents may well remember are making a comeback. The nostalgia is real!

And while we’re not completely sure how we feel about their return, seeing them hit shelves again is certainly a trip down memory lane.

Furby — and inspired toys that accompany the original — have been revamped since the 2000s with some new features that even tech-savvy modern kids can enjoy.

Here’s a closer look at how Furby became cool again and where to find the latest and greatest Furby toys.

We don’t have a clear answer for why Furbies are popular again, but it does have something to do with a longing for nostalgia in today’s parents and kids. “Vintage” toys of the 2000s and 1990s are trending, which definitely includes Furby.

Plus, there’s a lot that appeals about Furbies: they’re fun and furry, interactive, and today’s versions come with accessories and multiple designs and colors to fit different personalities.

Today, there are three different versions of Furby toys you can choose from for your kids:

  • The original, full-sized Furby that talks and sings
  • A miniature-sized “Furblet” that’s a pint-sized, pair-down version of Furby
  • Furby DJ Furblets, which are strangely elongated Furby creatures that stretch out

You can check out the full Furby store from Walmart with all three options, but here’s a closer look at some Furbies you can pick up for your kids.

It’s the original Furby you may well know and remember, with a tie-dye twist. This plush interactive toy could be your child’s pretend BFF because it moves, talks, sings, dances, lights up, and responds to speech. (Nope, not creepy at all.)

Just like the 2000s’ Furbies, this Furby talks in both English and Furbish and will interact with other Furbies around it.

The tie-dye version also includes 15 fun fashion accessories, including clip-on beads and a comb to keep things groovy.

For under $10, the Furby-inspired toys, “Furblets,” are too cute.

Unlike full-sized Furbies, Furblets speak exclusively in Furblish because their language skills are still developing. But they can interact in three different ways and can be a great way to ease into the Furby trend in your home.

The mini Furbies double as toys to play with and backpack, purse, or bag charms thanks to removable keychain clips. Plus, they have too-fun features such as peekabo ears that “pop” back into place, and because they’re Furbies, the ability to sing together.

Simply press and hold their mouths at the same time to hear a harmonizing song sung in unison!

You can even add more mini Furbies to the music for even more of a chorus.

I have no real reason to introduce you to this Reese’s Furby other than it’s almost Halloween and I’m craving a Reese’s pumpkin, but seriously, how cute is this Furby?

The base of the Furby that doubles as the chocolate peanut butter cup also detaches and serves as a convenient display stand. And like the other Furbies on our list, the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Furby has full harmonizing abilities too.

Fans of the original, full-sized Furby can also pick up this colorful version (it also comes in purple!).

Like the ol’ Furby of yore, this modern version becomes alert in listening mode when you say, “Hey Furby,” and press the heart gem on the center of its chest.

Furby can follow 5 commands:

  • Dance Party
  • Copy Cat
  • Tell My Fortune
  • Let’s Chill
  • Lightshow

Kids can also “feed” Furby with the attached pizza charm and comb its hair for a dazzling new look.
