We might be focused on figuring out what our Thanksgiving plans are going to look like at this point, but we can't ignore what happens immediately after the turkey is gone and the dishes are washed: Yep, Black Friday shopping. Though many stores have committed to closing for Thanksgiving this year, the tradition of snagging some amazing deals the day after Thanksgiving is still a go, whether we plan on getting those deals online or in person. And for parents of gamers, this can be a time with some incredibly helpful sales to help knock a few things off our holiday shopping list.
Let's face it — gaming is an expensive hobby, and most of our kids and teens who are into it aren't casual gamers. They're hardcore. And often, that means getting their hands on all the latest releases, upgrading their controllers with cool accessories, and sometimes, for the most committed, even building gaming computers from scratch — it's intense, y'all.
The cost of this hobby adds up quickly, unfortunately for our wallets … but Black Friday sales can definitely help save our bank accounts. While we don't know exactly what the deals will be this year, these are our predictions, based on what went on sale last Black Friday. Fingers crossed the ads will be released soon so we can make a plan of attack!
LG Smart TVs

Black Friday can be an awesome time to buy TVs, and sometimes, having a solid smart TV is a must for the serious gamer. Last year, 43-inch LG HGTV smart TVs were marked down to $229 at Target, with all kinds of deals on other TV brands and sizes.
Video Games
This shopping day is a notoriously good time to stock up on video games across all gaming systems, and that should be no different when the 2020 deals surface. Last year, Target offered up several older titles for $15 each, with newer titles marked down to $29.99 and $35.
Gaming Subscriptions
Black Friday also happens to be one of the cheapest days of the year to purchase gaming subscriptions. Last year, Target offered X Box Live, Nintendo Online, and Playstation Plus subscriptions for $5 off.
Vinyl Figures
For those who are obsessed with video games, vinyl figures of their favorite characters (like Funko Pops) can be a great stocking stuffer. Last year, GameStop's vinyl figures were buy two, get one free — super great deal especially for anyone buying for more than one kid.
Wireless Beats Headphones
Sometimes, we'll be extra thankful for headphones while our kids are gaming (or watching YouTube videos about gaming) and these were a good deal last year. At Walmart, these Beats Solo3 wireless headphones were just $129.
Nintendo Switch Joy Cons
These bad boys are expensive, but with Nintendo Switch more popular than ever, they're a must for the gaming-obsessed kid. These were $59.99 ($20 cheaper than usual) at Target last year, and a similar deal could be available in 2020.
A Gaming Laptop
For PC gamers, it doesn't get more convenient than this! Gaming laptops can be pricey, but last year, Walmart offered up the HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop for $250 off, bringing the price down to $499.
Curved Gaming Monitor
Walmart, continuing to come in clutch! For kids and teens building their own gaming computers, this curved monitor could end up being the perfect addition — and last year, it was on sale for $178.
Gaming Headset
For kids who love to game online, a headset is a must! This one was on sale for $59, which was a savings of $50 — not too shabby! It has a microphone, which will allow any gamer kid to chat with (and probably yell at) their opponents while they play.
Gaming Mouse
Another piece of the gaming PC puzzle. Last year, the Razer Mamba gaming mouse — which is wireless, BTW — was available for $50, down from its usual price of $79. Not a bad price when so many parts are necessary for a gaming PC!
Playstation 4 Consoles
Since the latest Playstation is about to drop, we have a feeling that Playstation 4 consoles may end up on deep discount this Black Friday, and last year, they were available for some pretty good deals too — like $100 off at GameStop.
XBox One Controllers
Time for a controller upgrade? Last year, Target's XBox One Dualshock wireless controllers were down from $59.99 to $39.99 — almost half off. Kids can go through these pretty quick, so a new controller is always a solid gift idea.
Controller Accessories
Because gaming isn't expensive enough, yes, there are accessories for controllers, too, but fortunately, they also tend to go on sale on Black Friday. Last year, Kontrol Freek's line of accessories was 25% off, and it wouldn't be surprising if it happened again.
Arcade Game
Looking for the gift that will seriously wow the gamer at the top of the list? This one ought to do it. Last year, Target marked down these huge, vintage-style arcade games to just $249.99, which is definitely a deal for anyone trying to create a legit arcade in their homes.
Controller Charging Station
The downside of wireless controllers? They have to be charged somehow. This charging station can make it a whole lot easier, especially since it charges multiple controllers at the same time, and last year, a similar model was marked down to $14.99 at GameStop.
Nintendo Switch Lite
It's been a popular year for Nintendo Switch, and if this is on the shopping list, it could be a great opportunity to snag one for a great savings. Last year, Target offered the Switch Lite for $199.99, but that's what the Lite is priced at normally now, a year later — who knows what the deal could be this year?
