Dad Faces Trouble for Accidentally Making Daughter Violently Ill With School Lunch Mix-Up

Parents are people like everyone else. We're prone to making mistakes every once in a while. In order to grow, it's important for parents to face their mistakes head-on. Sometimes those mistakes can have big consequences that arise quite unexpectedly, which often leads to embarrassment.

One dad recently opened up on Reddit about a huge mistake that he made when packing lunches for his wife and two daughters, and it's one that he definitely won't forget any time soon.

The dad explained that he's responsible for making his daughters' lunches for school each day.

As he wrote in his post on Reddit's TIFU forum, he occasionally makes his wife's lunch as well, and she has really weak taste buds. She usually goes extra spicy, extra salty, and extra everything when it comes to food in order to taste things fully. That means she has some products in the kitchen specifically for her.

One morning, along with his daughters' lunches, the dad also made his wife's lunch.

"It's my job to get the kids ready for school, make lunches, get them dressed and out to the bus, then I go off to work. Well this particular day my wife was working an early shift so i decided to make her a lunch as well," he wrote in his post.

He decided to make ham sandwiches for his wife and daughters. They were all the same, except that on his wife's, he added a little extra something.

He spread The Last Dub on his wife's sandwich.

"If you don't know what The Last Dab is, its a hot sauce made by a popular YouTube channel that sits at 3 million SCOVILLE," he explained. "It's not for the weak. It's powerful, it sets your whole body on fire and there isn't much to do but try milk and wait for the spice to pass."

Apparently, he must have mixed up the lunches.

Around 11:30 a.m., the dad received a phone call from his daughter's school, explaining that she was in "agony." She had vomited all over the floor and was in the nurse's office being treated.

The dad rushed over to the school and, realizing what must have happened, he stopped at a gas station along the way to pick up some milk for his daughter.

The school nurse and school principal were less than thrilled with the father.

The dad explained his unfortunate mistake to the school staff, who gave him an "earful" on how dangerous spicy food can be for young children. The principal even wanted to file an incident report.

Eventually, his daughter recovered and his wife had a good laugh about it, but the dad said he totally learned his lesson and was incredibly embarrassed about the mistake.

Many people online found the story pretty hilarious in retrospect.

Although the dad was ashamed, many Reddit users thought the whole thing was actually pretty funny. Some people comforted him, sharing their own stories.

One person wrote that it could be worse, as a friend accidentally gave a friend's child an edible candy by mistake. Another person shared that his parents accidentally packed him a Bud Light in his lunch box instead of a can of fruit juice.

"Reminds me of a story I read about a gu[y] who worked at a hotel in Canada or Yellowstone or something," a third person chimed in. "They had bear spray at the front desk to loan out to guests. One guy thought it was like bug spray so he hosed his kids down with it right there in the lobby. That hotel no longer loans out bear spray."

It just goes to show that things could always be worse!
