Dad Panics When He Thinks He Lost His Daughter Then Realizes She’s on His Shoulders

Adulting is hard, and we'll be the first to admit that. Sure, it's fine when you're all grown up and can make your own decisions, but when adding kids to the mix, things get complicated. We love our kids more than anything in the world, but sometimes, we get so caught up in our own adult lives that we kind of forget where we are and that they're there, too. And it isn't just us.

A video of a dad casually strolling down the street pushing his daughter on a tricycle has gone viral on X. In the clip, he suddenly realizes he is pushing an empty vehicle. He panics, and rightly so, but is relieved when he finds she is chilling on his shoulders. It is hilarious and so real.

The dad appeared to be on the phone.

The video, tweeted by X user @thefigen_, appears to be surveillance footage that captured the daddy/daughter duo coming around the corner. The toddler is perched on his shoulders as he chats on the phone. When he ends the conversation, he appears to notice the child is not riding along and freaks out.

He lets go of the tricycle, and all heck breaks loose as he runs back and forth down the sidewalk looking for his little girl.

He seems beside himself.

This man is terrified, and rightly so. Can you imagine pushing your child along and then realizing they aren't there? Amid his panic, he grabs his phone from his pocket to make another call. As soon as he gets the phone out, however, he realizes his sweet little girl is holding onto his shoulders. He grabs her and falls to the ground, hugging and kissing her.

It is a sweet moment, and we can feel his relief.

But is it real?

Not everyone was convinced. The video went super-viral on X, garnering more than 21 million views. A lot of people thought that it was a joke, though.

Maybe he was pretending just to make the little girl laugh.

"Even with zero words spoken in the video, I could tell you this is the worst acting ever," someone wrote. "Is this just him not playing with his daughter? Like checking under the trike… really …"

To some, it seemed too wild to be true. "Riiiiiiight, mmmmkay, just right in front of a camera lol," one person replied.

The idea resonated with plenty of people.

We have all had those panic moments. Seriously, how many times have you looked for your phone while using it?

"Yes, this may happen a lot when we are mentally busy, especially when we are looking for the mobile phone while it is in our hand, someone pointed out.

Another person agreed. "I've tried searching my phone with the flashlight of my phone in my hand," the person wrote.

Whether it was real or not, the sentiment was sweet.

We have all been there as parents who get so caught up that we get a little lost. A lot of people appreciated the video and the love the dad had for his little girl.

"You have not really lived as a parent until you have asked your child to help you look for said child," a person wrote.

"That feeling when he found his daughter was safe," someone else wrote.

And there was also this very honest observation: "Very true. Sometimes we can be so lost in our thoughts, for a moment we can forget."
