There can be numerous benefits to sending your child to day care. Your child learns to socialize with other children, they’re exposed to other authority figures beside mom and dad, and it gives parents the time to work and get things done while their children are being taken care of. But along with the day care decision come the worries about the decisions that are being made for your child without your input or knowledge.
One personal shopper and delivery driver says what he’s seen has made him hesitant to trust anyone else with his child.

A delivery driver noticed something 'weird' about day cares.
A TikTok user who goes by the name @collectivetraumacorgi, shared that he’s been a personal shopper/delivery driver for the past three months. In that time, one of the “weirdest” things he’s learned is that children’s day cares order an “obscene” amount of melatonin gummies.
But, he didn’t just drop this bombshell of a problem and go. The TikToker offered a solution.

There's a test for that.
“If you are fortunate enough to be able to afford day care for your children because you’re in a working household, you know, any pediatrician slash doctor can do a urine or saliva test for excess melatonin levels,” he said. “You might want to consider it because I’m kind of shocked and appalled."
The text over the video reads, "And I thought doggy daycare was scary …”
While melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone in our bodies that helps regulate sleep cycles, introducing additional amounts of it into a child’s system could present problems.
Melatonin can cause bedwetting and irritability, among other things.
Potential side effects of too much melatonin include increased bedwetting, daytime sleepiness, headaches, and irritability, according to the Mayo Clinic. Studies about effects of long-term use of the hormone have not been done, according to the Sleep Foundation.
Some experts question whether melatonin can affect other hormonal development. Despite the question marks, fellow parents expressed their concern in the comments section beneath the TikTok video.
Many thanked this delivery man for 'doing the Lord's work.'
“My daughter’s day care was forcing the children to take three hour naps during the day so this doesn’t surprise me at all,” one user said.
Another spoke about their 3-year-old coming home with stories about sleepy time gummies. Others suggested the TikToker take his video a step further and share it on his local Facebook page.
Many were just thankful for the information and thanked the person who made the video for doing “the Lord’s work,” so they could do some research and investigating of their own.
