As women, we’re all familiar with the stereotypical early pregnancy symptoms, i.e., nausea, chocolate cravings, and morning sickness. But not everyone is aware of some of the unexpected signs you’re pregnant that pop up during the early stages. Here are some of the most unusual, lesser-known pregnancy symptoms to keep an eye out for.

There’s a Strange Metallic Taste in Your Mouth

Okay, so what’s going on with your mouth suddenly feeling like it’s filled with pennies? This unusual taste is known as dysgeusia, which many experience as a result of changing estrogen levels. Weird, right?

You Have An Extremely Heightened Sense of Smell

Here’s another odd one: you’ve suddenly become outstandingly aware of the scents all around you. Like, it’s become a bit of a problem. That apple pie your neighbor from five doors down is baking? It’s like it’s right underneath your nose. The garbage your hubby forgot to take out again? It’s overwhelmingly potent in a way that others simply aren’t able to smell. Congrats, you now have the superpower of a heightened sense of smell. Will you be joining the Justice League?

You’re Experiencing Unusual Dreams

Your dreams are so vivid and unusual that you want to write a script about them and sell the movie rights to M. Night Shyamalan. These strange dreams you’re having that would make an Oscar-worthy surrealist film are often an early sign of pregnancy. Once again, this is mainly due to hormonal changes.

Your Emotions Are Out of Control

If you’re emotions have been all over the place lately, don’t panic. There’s nothing wrong with you; you may just want to pick up a pregnancy test, as this is a common early symptom. Although it may feel uncomfortable to experience such intense mood shifts, it’s completely normal.

You Feel Dizzy All of a Sudden

Why does it suddenly feel like you just got off the world’s most chaotic roller coaster? If you feel like you just got off the tilt-a-whirl, despite the fact that you haven’t moved, you might be experiencing the common early signs of pregnancy.

You’re Peeing, Constantly

At first, you thought having such a small bladder was kind of cute and quirky, but now your constant need to urinate is getting out of control. You’re having a hard time functioning properly without needing to burst into the bathroom. In fact, at this point, you’re wondering if you should just camp out on the toilet until you go into labor. Believe me, this is a normal part of the process.

Trouble Sleeping

If you haven’t been sleeping right lately, no matter how hard you try, you could be experiencing early signs of pregnancy. While pregnancy tends to make women very tired, it’s also possible that the hormonal changes will go in the opposite direction, making it difficult for you to fall asleep.

You Have a Dry Mouth

If you haven’t been getting enough fluids and suddenly it’s causing dry mouth, this could be a sign of pregnancy. Your body requires more hydration when you’re pregnant, meaning if you’re not drinking enough water, it could have a negative impact.

Of course, it goes without saying that the best way to know for sure if you’re expecting is to take a pregnancy test and visit a doctor. Yet acknowledging these unexpected symptoms can be a good way to gauge whether or not you might be pregnant. Have you experienced any of these symptoms? Let us know in the comments below!
