The idea of butt dialing someone when you are in a compromising position is embarrassing, sure. But imagine butt dialing 911 when you are playing a video game in which you are shooting to kill. Unfortunately for one teenager, he did exactly that and was left explaining himself to officers who arrived at his house ready to face the worst.
In a TikTok, the boy goes outside and talks to the police officers who arrive at his house and seem to have their guns drawn. The footage is from a doorbell camera and police bodycams and, luckily, the end result is not a shootout between an unsuspecting teen and cops who don’t know any better. Still, it’s a situation that literally none of them will forget.
Luckily, the police were understanding with the gamer kid.

In the video, the teenager explains to the police outside that he was playing his video game and butt dialed 911. Hey, it happens. Maybe most of us are used to butt dialing friends or even exes while in the middle of something important, though, so it isn’t quite as serious as this situation. The police do their due diligence and search the kid. He explains, “I was playing Rainbow 6 Siege inside.” For reference, the video game is a tactical shooter game that involves lots of gunfire and, from players, plenty of shouting.
The boy, who we learn is named Elijah, calls his mom and explains what happened. The police assure him that he isn’t in any trouble, but he appears visibly shaken up. If he was online playing with friends, though, there is little chance of any of them letting this go, like, ever. And, as one user commented on the TikTok, “Moms gonna tell this story every Thanksgiving.”
The policeman in the video who is wearing a bodycam tells Elijah’s mother that when he butt dialed 911, he was speaking as he played the video game. He said that he “killed two people.” So, in hearing that, the 911 operator likely thought the worst, as to be expected. Thankfully for everyone involved, they were calm in listening to Elijah’s story.
It’s honestly wholesome when Elijah takes the police officers inside his house to search and they joke that he must be good at the game if he killed two people. They even apologize to him about scaring him with the four patrol cars that showed up on his street to investigate what they thought was a double murder.
“I’m sure the officers were pretty happy knowing that they have to deal with actual situations like this daily and luckily this happened to be nothing,” a TikTok user wrote under the video of the doorbell and body cam footage.
Another said, “Gonna be an awesome two truths one lie opener.”
