Around the midpoint of pregnancy (and sometimes sooner), many expecting parents choose to learn the sex of their unborn child. A trend in recent decades is to announce the gender in a special way. Some couples opt for elaborate parties, while others post a photo or video on social media. Still others simply share the news with loved ones in a low-key way.
The bottom line: There isn't really a wrong way to do a gender reveal. One couple, however, is getting roasted online after posting an over-the-top video announcement featuring jets, powder cannons, an enormous balloon display, and more. And the comments are golden.

A TikTok gender reveal video has gone viral.
TikTok user @harelyhouse shared a gender reveal video in early April that pulled out all the stops. "Is this gender reveal too much?" the Tiktoker asked in the featured image for the video.
Just one look at the clip was enough for many folks to decide.
The announcement featured three planes.
The clip began with a couple looking at the sky together in the middle of an elaborate half-pink/half-blue balloon display. Three planes approached in unison. After the planes performed a series of vertical loops, the camera cut to a shot of them flying low overhead.

That's when the powder cannons fired.
The grand finale of the gender reveal showed the planes flying over the balloon display with the couple standing by. As soon as the aircraft cleared the couple, a series of powder cannons erupted in blue. A blue confetti cannon was the last to explode, signifying they were expecting a baby boy.
TikTok users roasted the expecting couple's gender reveal.
In the comments, TikTokers didn't hold back with their reactions. One person wrote, "100% relatable. our gender reveal was held on the moon, but yours was cute too."
"I personally would have done 4 airplanes but this was cute I guess," someone else commented.
Another person joked, "We had 'boy' carved into the moon and then flew family & friends up in a shuttle to see it."

The jokes kept on coming.
"I love how simple this is. nothing to big or crazy exactly how everyone should do a gender reveal," one person wrote as the roasting of this over-the-top gender reveal continued.
Yet another TikTok user commented, "My gender reveal was a photo shoot…some call it an ultrasound," while another person snarked, "We had the Atlantic Ocean colored pink for ours, but this is a close second."
Someone else had a suggestion for the couple: "My gender reveal was ✨telling people✨."
