Dad Nearly Had Heart Attack When He Thought He Left Daughter in Hot Car After Glance at Car Seat

A dad had to do a double take when he was getting in his truck and spotted his child’s car seat. Upon first glance, he panicked, thinking that he had left his daughter in the car on a hot day. In reality, his daughter just has an especially “horrifying” car seat. The dad said the car seat “nearly gave me a heart attack.”

“Out of the corner of my eye I thought that I left my daughter strapped into the hot car all day,” the dad wrote in a Reddit post. “Nearly gave me a heart attack. Who designed this??”

He attached a photo of the “creepy” Cinderella car seat. The design makes it look as though Cinderella is sitting in the car seat, which is probably why the dad worried that his daughter was still in the car.

People understood why the dad was scared but weren’t super empathetic.

After seeing the car seat, Reddit users could understand why the dad nearly had a heart attack: The design looked pretty creepy. “This is honestly the creepiest car seat I have ever seen,” one person wrote.

Many people pointed out that Cinderella’s neck looked especially strange, which made some wonder how the dad could suspect that his daughter was in the car. “Does your daughter also have a neck like a PEZ dispenser?” a second Redditor commented.

A lot of people also reminded the dad that he was likely the one who purchased the car seat for his daughter.

“I mean you bought it and knew what it looked like 🤷‍♂️,” another Redditor shared. Someone else added, “I mean… did someone force you to choose this particular car seat? The heart attack is easily avoidable.”

Others defended the dad.

Although lots of people asked the dad why he even purchased the car seat, others pointed out that he could’ve bought it because his daughter wanted it, which is totally fair. “Yeah it’s horrifying but yeah, parents buy dumb garish cartoony stuff because their kids like it,” one person commented.

Another person echoed this sentiment, writing, “Maybe it’s because the chair was designed for the child’s delight in mind.”

To one Redditor, people were being far too “judgmental.” “The ‘omg is that my kid’ is more of an instinctive reaction to seeing a human sized cutout in a seat you know is meant for your kid when you weren’t expecting to see anyone,” the person pointed out.

One Redditor even admitted to having a similar experience with car seats like this one. “My sister got a Batman and spiderman one for my nephews,” the person wrote. “First time I saw them in the rearview was startling.”

Another person had also encountered a similar car seat. “my sister in law had a dora the explorer one in her car and it would scare the s— out of my every time I saw it in the corner of my eye at night,” the commenter shared.

But some people could not get over the ‘vaguely threatening’ car seat.

“Those neck standards are unrealistic and unhealthy,” one person joked. Another person suggested that in addition to making the dad worry that he left his daughter in the car, the car seat might make the family have “weird dreams and memories” someday.
