When it comes to tough conversations to have with our kids, most of us know that we'll have to have "the talk" about sex sooner rather than later. Those conversations can be a little awkward or uncomfortable, but at least there are tons of great resources online about how to navigate conversations about sex with kids. But many of us might not have thought about the fact that we'll likely have to talk to our little ones about what addiction is and how addiction can affect people's lives.
In the most recent episode of Momtourage, host Keri opened up about the fact that her own father has been struggling with addiction and recently fell off the wagon. She's been grappling with how to best explain addiction to her own young children, and shared some helpful tips and language for how she's explained to her daughter that a beloved family member was struggling and sick.
The Momtourage mamas, who we can always rely on to be hilarious and snarky, weren't afraid to get serious this week — and it's a conversation we all need to hear.
