Large Snake Crashes 3-Year-Old’s Birthday Party After Falling Out of Empty Gift Box

A mom in Liverpool, England, was horrified to discover that a large snake crashed her 3-year-old’s birthday party after it fell out of an empty box from one of the gifts. On August 10, 2025, Jennifer Baker, 30, celebrated her daughter turning 3 with family and friends, The Sunday Times reported. She decided to place the box from one of her child’s new toys — a Peppa Pig car — on top of the oven during the get-together. “I took the car out and I put the empty box on top of the oven and then I just went about my day,” she said.

When the party was nearly over, Baker returned to the box to move it to the recycling bin when she made a shocking discovery,

A sizable, bright orange snake “just fell out of” the box, Baker told the BBC.

At first, the confused mom thought the animal was a toy that her two sons used to prank her. “I said, ‘Whose is this?’ because I was thinking, ‘They haven’t got a toy snake that looks like that,'” she recalled. But then the snake started moving.

“It’s only when its tongue started moving I realised it was a real snake and I started screaming, ‘It’s real!'” Baker recounted to the BBC. “I just was in shock. Walking into the kitchen to find a snake on my oven. I was thinking, how has a snake got in my kitchen?”

At that point, Baker’s mother heard the screams and stepped in to help remove the snake from the residence. “So then me and my mum are trying to get this snake into an empty box and it’s trying to wrap itself around my arm, it was just mad,” the mom of the birthday girl told the BBC.

Ultimately, the mystery of the birthday-crashing snake was solved. The animal, a corn snake (which isn’t venomous), belonged to a neighbor. The pet serpent managed to escape from its home and, unluckily, ended up at the Baker residence.

Clearly, it was a birthday party the Bakers won’t soon forget!
