To celebrate her daughter’s fourth birthday on June 4, Meghan Markle shared several sweet posts on Instagram. One of the posts has been surprisingly controversial. After sharing a few photos featuring her daughter, Princess Lilibet, the Duchess of Sussex also posted a video from when she was in the hospital and preparing to welcome Lilibet four years ago. Attempting to induce labor, Meghan danced with Prince Harry — and critics really hated it.
Meghan opened up about her pregnancy journey in the caption.
“Four years ago today, this also happened,” Meghan captioned the video. “Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work – there was only one thing left to do! 😂”
The clip shows Meghan and Prince Harry dancing to “The Baby Momma Dance” by Cameron J Henderson.
The video seems pretty harmless, but critics took to social media to bash it.
The video quickly went viral. Meghan has routinely been criticized for not being relatable enough, yet when she shared something authentic, people called her out for sharing too much about her personal life. “I thought they wanted privacy,” one critic pointed out. Another person accused the Duchess of Sussex of “oversharing,” while a third critic referred to Meghan as a “wannabe influencer doing tiktok trends after you claim you don’t use social media.”
“This clip would have served them much better remaining in their phones or clouds,” they added.
Some critics couldn’t stop talking about Meghan’s baby bump.
The video also led to lots of speculation about Meghan’s body and whether she truly “looked pregnant.” Across social media platforms, critics who reacted to the video insisted that Meghan’s baby bump looked “fake” in the clip.
“Well that’s a strange belly if ever I saw one…” one critic wrote on X. “Having had children myself it’s odd… just saying.”
However, several others jumped in to defend Meghan, offering a reasonable explanation for her “strange” baby bump: “It’s a monitor or something attached & covered by her dress,” one person explained.
People couldn’t believe that she was able to dance.
Meghan was not the only pregnant woman who danced to “The Baby Momma Dance” in the hospital, given that it was a popular TikTok trend. However, that didn’t stop some critics from acting like she was too far along in her pregnancy to dance like that.
“I have several daughters and we have all had at least one child and most of us at least two!” one critic wrote on X. “Never were any of us able to dance like that at 9 months pregnant nor were we able to lift our stomachs!”
“Any pregnant woman in labor would have fallen in that position,” another critic claimed.
Not everyone was so negative.
Even though the video has garnered a lot of backlash, some fans loved that Meghan shared something so personal and fun with her followers.
“This is everything!” one wrote. “Harry on beat and Meghan dropping it like it’s hot. They look like they have so much fun together.”
Another fan commented, “I’m so happy for her to feel free enough to post this moment.”
And despite some critics’ comments about how Meghan shouldn’t have been able to dance like that while pregnant, some moms could definitely relate to her.
“By 40 weeks of pregnancy I was a menace & wanted the babies out!” one fan wrote on X. “I did everything possible to ‘encourage’ them out and I mean EVERYTHING! If I told you all the antics I got up to it would make you blush.”
Everyone is talking about the Meghan Markle pregnant dancing video. Some say women can’t dance in the third trimester.

Her video is sus. But this was me 4 days before I gave birth to my youngest child 7 years ago. Ron Paul’s wife, Carol told me to try dancing. So I did 😂 pic.twitter.com/oqZ87BF2R3
Another fan shared their own pregnant dancing video and wrote: “Everyone is talking about the Meghan Markle pregnant dancing video. Some say women can’t dance in the third trimester. Her video is sus. But this was me 4 days before I gave birth to my youngest child 7 years ago.”
