In the '90s, there was a popular commercial that aired nationally. The advertisement, meant to encourage parental responsibility, stated a fact and then posed a simple question. "It’s 10 p.m. Do you know where your children are?" Bet you can hear the voiceover in your head as you read this.
I remember being a child, in the house, hearing those commercials and thinking they were ridiculous. But apparently, as children get older, it can become harder to keep up with their whereabouts. And sometimes, even when you think you know, you don’t. One mom on TikTok almost lost it when she thought her tween daughter was ignoring her, until a phone call made her realize she was the one in the wrong.
This mom called for her daughter while she was cooking dinner, but there was no answer.
The TikTok mom shared a story about her daughter’s slippery nature and it has TikTok tickled. Breaun Osborne, who goes by @brueanosborne on the app, shared that one evening as she was making dinner, she realized she needed her daughter’s assistance.
She hollered for her. There was no response. Osborne assumed her daughter was hiding out in her room, pretending not to hear her.
Osborne got mad, thinking her daughter was ignoring her.
Osborne got irritated. Her husband called for their daughter. Still no answer.
“At this point, I’m pissed,” Osborne recalls. “I’m like getting very angry, mashing up the hamburger.”
Osborne planned to give her preteen daughter a piece of her mind when she finally did see her.
In the middle of her rage, she was distracted by a phone call.
As she was rage-cooking, she got a phone call from an unknown number. The person on the line said, “Hi,” and then, “Where are you?” Osborne responded, “Who is this?” The person on the phone said, “It’s me.”
Still confused — and maybe a bit annoyed — Osborne says, “I don’t know who me is.” The person on the phone says, “Mom, I had modern band today.”
It wasn’t until that exact moment that Osborne realized she hadn’t picked her daughter up from school. Oops!
Users were laughing right along with Osborne.
The video, which has been seen over 1.2 million times, has struck a chord with viewers who are chuckling right along with Osborne after she realized what she had done.
