TRIGGER WARNING: This post contains information about stillbirth and infant loss, which may be triggering to some.
A mom who previously experienced infant loss due to her first baby having Potter syndrome, started praying for a healthy pregnancy when she found out she was expecting again. After her most recent appointment, she was so “thankful” when she looked at the ultrasound images. One of the images showed a mysterious hand, which the mom saw as a sign that God is keeping “his healing hands on [her] son.”
The mom didn’t notice the hand at first.
It was only after her appointment had ended that the mom, Amanda Foster, noticed the hand in the ultrasound image. One of her daughters saw it first, then her husband pointed it out to her and asked whose hand it was. In a video shared on TikTok, the mom explained that she experiences fainting spells when lying down for too long, so she has to roll around a lot during her ultrasounds.
Because of this, she didn’t really notice the hand in one of her ultrasound images. Once her loved ones pointed it out to her, she was amazed. “It’s God’s hand,” Amanda said in her video. “I don’t know how else to explain it.”
She shared the image on social media.
Amanda’s ultrasound image went viral after she shared it on Facebook and TikTok. On May 24, 2025, she posted the image on Facebook writing, “Each time before ultrasounds I’ve dropped to my knees right in the doctors office to pray over Kyler. In my prayers for him I’ve asked the lord repeatedly to please keep his hand on my baby and whatever his plan may be to help me trust fully in it at ease.”
She saw the ultrasound image as a sign that God has answered her prayers. “Thinking about this last night more and more brought me to tears and just to be so thankful for all he has and continues to do for me,” she wrote.
After the image went viral, Amanda received lots of questions.
@amandaleann30 To answer some of the questions I was receiving in the comments on my sons ultrasound picture. Overlook me, I am exhausted 90% of the time and I don’t ever make videos like this but I feel like I needed to make this one. ❤️ #fyp #ultrasound #son #handofgod ♬ original sound – amandaleann30
The questions she received prompted her to share more details about her journey and her experience losing her first son due to Potter syndrome. She was only 17 years old at the time. She opened up about the “traumatizing” experience on TikTok.
“I believed that if he was gonna take my son, he would take me too,” she explained. “It didn’t work out that way, so being a mom, walking out of the hospital without your baby is traumatizing. It does something to you.”
Amanda went on to have healthy pregnancies after that, but still went through a period of feeling like she was living “a very chaotic and miserable life.” She said things began to change when she “turned [her] life over to Jesus Christ in September of 2021.”
She’s experienced some ‘ups and downs’ during this pregnancy.
“At his anatomy scan, I was told he had an aortic septum abnormality,” Amanda wrote on Facebook. “We prayed and prayed along with several others. When we followed up with a specialist, it was gone.” She felt “abundantly blessed” when she saw the hand holding her baby in a recent ultrasound image.
“[God] showed up,” she said on TikTok. “When he does, he makes it known.”
Reacting to the image on TikTok, one person wrote, “That needs framed! What a beautiful capture of God’s presence.”
Another person commented, “Did you just catch him during his pottery session?”
A third said, “He’s just in there knittin’ and you caught him adding the finishing touches!”
