In the age of social media, moms often use these sites and apps to help them be better parents. The tips, advice, and hacks can make parenting a bit easier. But if you are the person posting, you have to beware. The second you click post, the entire world can consume your content, and they will be more than happy to give you their opinions. A TikTok mom learned this lesson the hard way and ended up deleting her controversial video. But, as we all know by now, the internet is forever, and it’s still out there.
The woman, who posts on TikTok as @mak_and_momlife, shares a baby girl with her wife. In a video re-uploaded to TikTok by @clipsvideos033, the original poster starts the video with a wild question, “Does anyone else, like, not talk to their kid or their baby?”
The TikToker said she and her wife typically care for their 11-month-old baby together, but she recently spent the day with the baby alone and noticed something.
“Today, it was just me and her all day, and I realized sitting at dinner that it was just quiet and we weren’t even talking, which she can’t talk about, but I don’t talk to her,” she said.
“Is that weird?” she asked. “Should I be saying things so she can learn how to talk? I make noises, I do funny faces, I dance, but I don’t converse.”

Not surprisingly, her video went viral quickly. But as the audience grew, the TikToker became overwhelmed by the comments and critiques and ended up taking it down. While the original comments may be gone, people on Clips & Videos’ post were equally outraged.
“So you’re neglecting your child ?” someone questioned. “Is that what you’re publicly putting out there ????? Do better.”
Another person agreed: “So let me get this straight… you don’t say good morning to her ? Or ask her how she’s doing ? Or ask her if she had a good nap ? But you can make funny noises ?! Girl go read a book on how to be a parent please.”
Others just flat-out couldn’t understand.
“I talk to inanimate objects what do you mean you don’t talk to your baby,” a flabbergasted viewer wrote.
She may have deleted her original video, but later posted a follow-up thanking those who reached out and felt the same way she does. While the comments may have been in the minority, other parents understood where the mom was coming from. In another video, she clarified that she talks to her baby but finds it “awkward.”
“I really am on here to connect,” she said. “Motherhood is tough, but very rewarding.”
