TikTok Mom Captures Powerful Moment Dog Comforts Her After Realizing She Had a Miscarriage

Even though they can’t say it with words, we know our pets love us. They are always by our sides through the good times and the bad. Sometimes, they give us those special looks when we need it most. It’s as if they want to tell us that they would throw their arms around us and hold us tight if they could.

Sadly, Cassandra Hess suffered a miscarriage. While grieving the loss of her son, whom she had named Oakley, she decided to put away some things she had purchased for the baby and caught a tender moment with her dog on camera. Cassandra later shared the touching video of how her dog comforted the heartbroken mom on TikTok. We’re warning you, grab the tissues now.

Hess and her husband were thrilled to be expecting a child.

@cassandrahess_ The worst pain I’ve ever felt I delivered my son sleeping at 18 weeks almost a week ago. I was recording myself looking through his stuff for the last time before I put it away. This was the first time my dog saw the basket. I wasnt sure if he would understand, but he did #miscarriage #miscarriageawareness #latemiscarraige #latemisscarageawareness #angelbaby ♬ Je te laisserai des mots - Patrick Watson

In a series of TikTok videos, Hess explained that she and her husband share a son and were excited to learn that she was pregnant again. Even though her baby wasn’t yet a year old, she looked forward to having children close together.

Everything progressed normally during the beginning of her pregnancy, but at her 14-week appointment, her doctor had trouble finding the baby’s heartbeat, but once she heard it, she felt relieved.

“I thought we would be in the clear, and we wouldn’t have to worry,” she wrote on a video.

She found out at her next appointment that her baby didn't have a heartbeat.

Sadly, the next time the doctor tried to find the baby’s heartbeat, they realized that her pregnancy was no longer viable. She was admitted to the hospital and delivered Oakley on October 4.

She explained that he was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck and that he might have had a genetic condition. She and her family were devastated.

A week later, Hess decided to go through some of his things.

She set up a camera to record herself going through Oakley’s things with her dog by her side. She is visibly emotional, and the dog looks up at her as if to say, “I’m sorry, and I love you.”

“I delivered my son sleeping at 18 weeks almost a week ago. I was recording myself looking through his stuff for the last time before I put it away. This was the first time my dog saw the basket. I wasnt sure if he would understand, but he did,” she wrote.

The video is pretty incredible.
