Mom Left Feeling ‘Embarrassed’ After Posting Video of Husband Carrying Baby for the First Time

What was meant to be a sweet video of a significant moment ended up going viral because it was so embarrassing, yet absolutely relatable. In July 2024, Mila and James Minotti welcomed a son who was born prematurely. After dealing with the challenges that came with their baby’s premature arrival, including having a cesarean section, the couple was eager to leave the hospital with their son.

Mila decided to record a video of the baby’s dad carrying him out of the hospital. It didn’t exactly go as planned, however.

The dad seemingly got distracted while carrying his baby.

Mila told Newsweek that she recorded the special moment because “we were excited to document our departure from the hospital.” At the time, she did not anticipate that the video would later go viral on TikTok, amassing more than one million views, thanks to a small mishap. While carrying his baby out of the hospital, the dad looked back at the camera and smiled for a moment as he continued to walk. In the process, he ended up colliding with a cart.

At first, the mom was ‘worried.’

Given that the dad was carrying their child when he ran into the cart, Mila was concerned, she told Newsweek. Additionally, she was “a little shocked” that her husband would run into something while carrying their baby. To make matters even worse, the incident happened “in front of the nurses station,” which left the mom feeling “embarrassed.” Luckily, medical staff assured the couple that “everything was okay.”

Though she was embarrassed at first, she later decided to share the video on TikTok.

After some time passed, the mom and dad were able to find humor in the embarrassing incident. Sharing it on TikTok made it clear that many parents have made similar mistakes.

“As we were walking out of the hospital I bumped the car seat on the door,” one person commented. “Then on her first doc appointment ran into the front desk because I was so nervous😂”

Another person called the dad a “nervous dad,” but Mila responded that the child they welcomed recently was actually their second, so “maybe not nervous enough.”

Some TikTok users just knew that the baby was their second child.

“I’m laughing so hard I’m crying,” one person commented. “that’s definitely your second baby.” Mila simply responded with: “iykyk.”

Another parent shared that they would “lose it” if this happened to their first child, but their perspective has shifted as they prepare to welcome their second. “About to have my second and I just know we’re all doing our best hahahah,” the commenter wrote.

“Definitely a second kid thing 😅,” Mila responded.

Of course, people also made comments about dads.

After sharing the video, one person commented, telling Mila that “this needs the ‘it was finally Daddy’s turn to carry you’ sound.” Mila then shared the video again with that audio clip added.

In response, many other TikTok users shared some of the questionable things they’ve seen new dads do. “I’m a labor and delivery nurse and just watched a dad push the bassinet right into the door frame yesterday 😂😂,” one person wrote.

Another person commented, “this is like a right of passage… 😂😂😂 my husband banged the rolling bassinet against the nurses station when we were in the hospital.”

“My husband was trying to take a picture of our oldest when he was only a few hours old (like maybe 2 or 3 max),” a third person commented. “He accidentally dropped his phone on his face. He was fine but still. 🫠”
