If you've ever lived in an area with an ice cream truck, you know how exciting it is to hear the truck's music blaring and have the chance to grab a sweet treat. In some neighborhoods, the ice cream truck is a summertime staple, and kids run as soon as they see it. The driver is often a friendly face that families trust and look forward to seeing. But not always.
A parent posted in Reddit's Petty Revenge forum about their neighborhood ice cream truck driver pulling a fast one on their kid. The parents weren't going to let this guy get away with it, so they stocked up on ice cream to treat the kids and left the driver without any customers.

The kid just wanted something sweet.
The original poster explained their kid ran out to get ice cream, but when she came back, she seemed upset. OP asked what was wrong and was a little surprised by her response.
"She said, 'I asked the ice cream man for my change. He gave me this lollipop and drove off before I could say anything,’” the OP wrote.
The kid doesn't even like lollipops.
OP explained that their kid didn't want a lollipop; she wanted her change. Even if she had liked lollipops, which she doesn't, she ended up the loser in this deal.
This didn't sit well with OP, so they went to Costco to get a few treats. OP came home and passed out treats in the neighborhood and beat the ice cream truck driver at his own game.
"For the next few weeks, my kid shared ice cream with all of the kids on our side of the neighborhood. My kid made some new friends, and no one on our side of the neighborhood bought from the ice cream man during that time," OP wrote.

Sorry, ice cream man, but you messed with the wrong folks, and Redditors loved it.
One person wrote, "D—! That's serendipity! That's building community at the ground level. Kids make new friends and build fun memories, parents see what's going on and build on it. And there might have been a kid who didn't have money for an ice cream bar and now he gets to be part of something."
This person was a big fan writing, "Sweet revenge, your kid will never forget this!"

Apparently, this story isn't so wild.
Other redditors had similar stories.
As one person wrote, "Our local icecream man used to give us 1 cent tootsie rolls as change. We thought it was great until learning later how much he likely made off of us poor lil munchkins. Evil shenanigans, but lesson learned."
And this person wondered if OP's kid wasn't behind the scheme, joking, "your kid masterminded it: she bought an additional lollipop, pocketed the change AND got you to buy extra ice cream."
