When moms find out that their son will soon be a father, many of them are overjoyed to become a grandmother. However, there are some situations where finding out a son is expanding his family can be something that is not entirely up for celebration. One example is when children are still children themselves and aren't necessarily ready to become parents.
Or when a son finds out that he is going to be a father from a girl who has been MIA from his life and comes back into the picture eight months later, eight months pregnant. One mom recently opened up about the sticky situation on Reddit, seeking advice on how to handle her son's recent news.
Her son's ex-girlfriend recently came back into his life, sharing that she's eight months pregnant.
The mom wrote that she is a bit upset because her 18-year-old son is supposed to just "accept" that it's his baby with no questions asked. While the two were together, she said her son was "head over heels" and would spend tons of money buying her gifts she wanted, one time even using her own credit card to obtain a gift.
The mom is skeptical that the baby is his.
Although her son was super in love when they were a couple, the girl broke his heart and cheated on him, which caused their breakup. The mom shared that she is concerned that her son may not be the baby's father, seeing as there was unfaithfulness in the relationship.
She also thinks that the girl is after her son for money and financial support.
Her daughter, however, disagrees completely.

In addition, the mom wrote that her daughter happens to be really good friends with the ex-girlfriend — and is even rooming with her while in college — and believes that she never cheated on her brother and that he is definitely the baby's father.
Her daughter was with the ex when she announced the pregnancy news, showing up at their door "visually pregnant." The mom decided to propose a rather fair response to the pregnancy: a paternity test to determine whether her son was the father.
"I knew she was gonna be saying that my son is the father of her child and immediately said that my son will not be putting in any money or time until there is a paternity test proving that is his child," she wrote.
Her son agreed to do the paternity test to find out if he's truly the father of the baby.
Her daughter, however, is in complete disbelief. She claimed that her mother is pushing her son to be a "deadbeat father" and that she isn't even giving the ex-girlfriend the "benefit of the doubt."
Her son's ex-girlfriend is also hurt that the mom "always assumes the worst" about her.
The mom, however, claimed that if the paternity test shows that he's the father, they're going to "ensure mom is doing well to ensure baby is doing well." She just doesn't want her son to become involved "only to get his heart broken again and only to find out that the child isn't his."
Although her daughter is upset, many people online agree the mom is doing the right thing.
Many people asked why the ex-girlfriend waited "so long" to let her son know that she is pregnant.
"I'm just assuming, but im thinking she was taking time to figure out who she wanted to father the baby or who would give her an easier life regardless of whom the actual father is," one commenter wrote.
Some believe she had been "with another guy" who could possibly be the father and he ditched the situation.
"Seems that the guy she banged behind OP's son back won't take respons[i]bility," another commenter wrote.
Others believe the mom is right: She's only after this family for money.
Some commenters think the mom is just "protecting" her son.
"She has a history of cheating/manipulating situations, and it’s better to find out now – than later down the line," one person commented.
Others shared that the mom is doing the right thing by adding she will "make sure the baby and mom are taken care of" should the test show her son is the father. But if not, she isn't going to allow her family to be manipulated. Sometimes, moms do know best.
