When a person turns 18, they are legally considered an adult and have complete autonomy over their body and how they choose to use it in the United States. The age of consent varies according to state law, but no matter where you live, you’re an adult at 18. Even though the thought of a teenager becoming an adult overnight may make some parents grimace, growing up is a part of life. But how old is too old to date a teenager, even if they’re of legal age to consent?
A teenage influencer who posts as @PrettyLuhThangg_, on TikTok brought a family feud about her boyfriend to the attention of her 1 million followers, and people have big thoughts. According to the 18-year-old original poster, her mother, who posts as @inspiredbythe1, refused to attend her high school graduation. OP claims it’s because her mom has beef with her 31-year-old boyfriend who planned to attend.

“She ain’t never met him, y’all,” OP said. “She ain’t never met him. She never spoke to this boy. Nothing.”
As OP continued, she explained that her relationship issues with her mother stems from even deeper wounds. OP allegedly wound up in foster care for two years, and she claims her mother never checked up on her.
“Please don’t play with me,” OP said. “You’re weird. I promise y’all, I’m done. That was it for me.”
OP turned off comments on several of her videos. She left them turned on for TikToks from the graduation ceremony, and people had mixed feelings.
Some thought that OP’s mom disrespected her.
“Her mom didn’t even have to stay around for long she could’ve came showed face to her daughter said congratulations gave her a lil card or something and left right after it’s just the fact that she didn’t show up at all thats not sitting right with me lol,” one person shared.
Another person agreed and would never have missed a graduation.
“Her mom should have still came to her graduation despite him being there or his age & yall missing that ! her mom not showing up said a lot ! then tried to blame a man for not coming like huh ? handle that after,” the person wrote.
Others understood OP’s mom’s perspective and could see why she was uncomfortable with the relationship.
“U gotta point but again nb wants to see they child be groomed yall gotta see where she coming from, “ one TikToker commented.
Another person thought OP’s mom could have taken the matter into her own hands.
“Her mom should have had him locked up. He would be watching the other inmates play basketball,” the commenter suggested.
OP has now graduated and is moving on with her life. Her boyfriend and grandmother attended the ceremony, which she says helped heal her heart.
