In what she has described as one of her biggest parenting fails, a mom accidentally gave her daughters sexy underwear for Valentine’s Day. Though she was clearly embarrassed by the mistake, other parents didn’t blame her. In a video shared via TikTok, the mom, Lucy, explained that she stopped by a dollar store one day in February and found some toy roses for her daughters that she thought would make a great Valentine’s Day gift. Months later, she realized the innocent-looking “roses” actually contained some very intimate gifts.
One day, her daughter pulled a pair of underwear out of the rose.
The “mortified” mom explained that the two roses sat in her daughters’ room for months before anyone realized they weren’t just a flower. In August, one of her daughters suddenly decided to pull the rose apart. Lucy wasn’t bothered by this at all — until her daughter pulled a thong out of the flower. The mom held up the rose in her video and showed her followers that it very much looks like “a normal rose.”
“One of my children pulled this out of the rose,” she said, holding up a red thong with a heart cutout.
She said the sign at the store didn’t mention underwear at all.
Although intimate gifts for Valentine’s Day aren’t unusual, the mom had no reason to think that the gifts she bought were anything other than artificial roses. According to her, the sign at the store simply said something like, “$1.99 rose.”
“It said nothing else on there,” she said. “And I’m mortified that these have been in my kids’ room as like a ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ to my children.”
Unsurprisingly, one of her kids asked her about the underwear.

Of course, the kiddo who found the thong in the toy rose was curious about it. She asked, “Mom, what are these?”
The mom didn’t say how she explained the underwear to her daughter, but said she immediately went to get the other rose and take it out of her kids’ room. “Who knew an innocent red rose included one of these! 🤣,” she captioned the video.
People found the parenting fail ‘hilarious.’
Everyone makes mistakes, and this one seemed relatively harmless (and amusing) to Lucy’s followers. “Sorry but I’m laughing so hard right now,” one person commented on the video.
Others assured the mom that they could see other parents making the same mistake. “That’s to funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣” someone else wrote. “I wonder how many other children have [these]? And how many other Mums are now running to their rooms 🤣🤣🤣.”
Another person suggested it might be helpful to inform the store, as they could see other parents purchasing “something that looked like an awesome deal without paying close attention to what it really was.”
Even though it was clearly embarrassing for the mom, it could’ve been worse. “At least she didn’t have a friend over when she found it or worse took it to school,” one TikToker pointed out.
