Sky-High Expectations Ultra-Wealthy Parents Listed in 914-Word Job Posting for Nanny Are Unbelievable

Of course, finding the right babysitter or nanny to look after your kiddos is no easy feat. Although it’s not unusual for parents to have high standards when it comes to child care, one family has taken it to the extreme. The wealthy family detailed their expectations for their next nanny in a 914-word job posting that has since gone viral.

They don’t want a nanny who talks too much.

According to the job posting shared via Hampton Domestics, per the DailyMail, a wealthy family from Kensington Park, London, is looking for a head nanny to look after their 16-month-old twins when they move to Sands Point, New York. The job listing includes a long list of requirements for the future nanny. Even though some of the requirements are related to the nanny’s education and work experience, the parents also have strict expectations regarding the nanny’s personality.

“A calm and easy-going personality with the ability to read a room and assess what the family needs at any given time is essential,” the job posting states. The parents also specified that the nanny should understand “the balance between warmth and professionalism, avoiding excessive talkativeness.”

The nanny needs to understand that ‘this position does not allow for complete autonomy.’

The nanny hired by the family “will be responsible for overseeing the daily schedule and activities for the children.” During the 13-hour daily shifts, the nanny needs to follow “a strict daily routine that promotes the children’s development and growth.” However, the nanny does not have the freedom to plan activities for the twins. “You will not have the freedom to dictate their schedules, plan activities and outings, or organize playdates at your discretion,” the job posting specifies.

They should be willing to follow instructions even if they possess expertise.

The parents also require their nanny to be highly educated and experienced. They prefer to hire a nanny who has a bachelor’s degree in childhood development, has training in Montessori education, and speaks both English and Spanish. Additionally, the new nanny should have five years of experience working as a nanny and should be “knowledgeable and proactive in understanding developmental stages and teaching children.”

In spite of these educational requirements, the nanny should be prepared to follow directions from the family. “You need to possess the ability to be proactive and use your own initiative, but must be able to follow instructions effectively,” the job ad states. “Requirement to stay open-minded, highly adaptable, and flexible, even if you possess a wealth of experience and knowledge.”

This nanny is also responsible for training other nannies.

In addition to overseeing the children’s schedules, the head nanny also needs to manage “the current nanny team on a day to day basis” and train any new nannies. This should be done while also communicating with the parents regularly and tracking the kids’ progress. According to the job ad, the twins’ mom is “actively involved and well-informed on a daily basis,” so the head nanny needs to stay in touch with her “constantly.”

Along with “keeping track of the children’s day-to-day activities, milestones and progress to inform parents,” the nanny will be expected to keep up “with the latest research and practices in child development to provide the best possible care for the children.”
