I Think My Hack for Sharing Baby Duties Is Genius, but Trolls Say It Will Ruin My Marriage

Can we all admit that taking care of a newborn baby is hard? We mean, really, really hard. It is particularly tough on moms who often struggle physically, emotionally, and mentally in the beginning. Having a partner on board to help can be such a relief. It is so nice when we have loving and helpful partners to relieve some of the stress.

A British mom shared her newborn sleep hack for surviving the early days of motherhood, and people have thoughts. Luisa Zissman hosts the podcast LuAnna with fellow mom Anna Williamson. The pair shared a TikTok on their channel @everything_luanna, which has some people questioning Zissman's integrity regarding her marriage. Others think she is a genius and plan to use her little tip.

Zissman and her husband had an agreement.

Every family handles parenting differently, but many couples divvy up child care duties. Zissman explained in the clip that she and her husband decided that the new mom would handle all the overnight feedings when their daughter was born. Her husband would take over around 5:30 a.m. to deal with the baby so Zissman could get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep to help her better manage the day.

But she said she had never told anyone about it, which got us curious.

Zissman kept a secret from her husband.

The plan worked perfectly during the first few weeks of having their first daughter at home. But Zissman admitted that at 10 weeks, the baby started to skip her night feedings and slept until morning. But instead of sharing the great news that she and the baby were resting well, she kept it to herself.

"I had a blissful sleep plus additional sleep-ins most days after telling my husband how AWFUL my night had been and him thanking me for being so quiet as he had no idea it was such a struggle," she explained in the clip.

Williamson laughed and told Zissman her plan was 'genius.'

Zissman's husband had no clue what was happening and even told his wife that she was so quiet getting up that she never interrupted his sleep. The crafty mom admitted that she had no regrets at all.

"Ladies, we go through enough. Let the men have some of the load," she said.

Williamson agreed with a smile, saying, "Winning at life."

The comments went wild, but not everyone loved Zissman's story.

The video has racked up 2.2 million views on TikTok and, as always, there were people on both sides of the issue. A lot of people thought that she was taking advantage of her husband, which didn't bode well for their relationship in the future.

"Yea that's gonna be a good marriage," someone commented sarcastically.

"That's lazy supposed to be 50/50," another TikToker pointed out.

Others thought guilt would take over them and couldn't do it.

"My conscience would be killing me about lying and manipulation ," someone wrote.

"So when he gets sick or injured from not enough sleep before going to work what will you do then," another person asked.

A lot of moms loved the idea, and some had even done it themselves.

Plenty of moms agreed with Zissman and believed it was no big deal.

"Haha I did this !!! I would do the 3 am feed & husband got up with him at 6/6:30, he dropped his 3 am & I kept quiet ," one mom admitted.

Lots of others chimed in.

"I did exactly the same! All my (mom)friends know, but husband still doesn't ," someone wrote.

And some moms wanted Zissman to keep it to herself. " Ahh don't spill out secrets …" another comment reads.
