My son is Minions obsessed. When Minions: The Rise of Gru was announced for release in July 2020, he was ecstatic. But of course, with the state of the world at the time, the movie was pushed back. We made up for it at the time by throwing him a Minions-themed birthday party, but nothing could stop the incessant flow of questions: “When is Rise of Gru coming out? When is Rise of Gru coming out?”
Finally, the movie event he had been waiting for!

When Minions: The Rise of Gru was officially slated to be released July 1, 2022, we were first in the (virtual) line to buy tickets. Since this event was two years in the making, which is a lot of time for anyone, but especially long if you are 6, we decided to celebrate in a big way, by having an All Minions Weekend!
The breakfast was so delish.

First on the list was a stop at IHOP. The beloved breakfast chain launched a special Minions-themed menu and it does not disappoint. In fact, while IHOP is known for its pancakes, true lovers of the restaurant know that many of its locations are open 24 hours a day, and so this means that the Minion Menu is available all day and night, which is great because it also includes a promotion that gives kids 12 and under a free entrée from the kid's menu with the purchase of an adult entrée from 4 to 10 p.m. nightly while the menu is in effect.
We stopped by for breakfast and had our pick from things like Ba-Ba-Banana Pudding Pancakes, Cinna-Minions, Gru's Evil Steakburger, the Minion Mango OJ Splasher, and Cold Gru Iced Coffee. My son chose the Ba-Ba-Banana Pudding Pancakes, and I even let him try out the Ba-Ba-Banana Milkshake as a treat.
Next, it was off to buy a Bob plushie, my son’s favorite.

But first, a quick stop at home to change into the Minion onesie PJs from his birthday. We found what we were looking for at our first stop (thank goodness) then it was back home for a fun Minions craft to prepare for the movie.
I found these free printables for snack bags and printed a few to fill up with snacks for the movie. I was able to convince my son to change into a T-shirt instead of the onesie and we were off to the movies.
All in all, it was a great Minion-filled day and the movie was totally worth the wait. Now we just wait for the next one …
