I Realized I Was Pregnant When I Sat Down on the Toilet & Saw My Baby’s Foot Coming Out

For so many women, it is pretty hard to hide a pregnancy. The physical changes, cravings, and nesting all hit pretty hard, and we begin to bask in the excitement of holding our babies in a few short months. And then, there are those moms who go a whole nine months without realizing they are pregnant and get a huge surprise. We can't fathom that situation, but it happens.

Faye White, a 19-year-old mom from Braintree, Essex, England, said she got the surprise of her life when her water broke and labor unexpectedly began. As reported by the New York Post, White told Kennedy News that she and her partner, Aiden Behrens, 21, didn’t regularly use contraception, and although she knew there was a risk, the birth of her daughter, Luna-Grace Behrens, was a shock.

White and Behrens were already parents when Luna-Grace made her debut.

White told Kennedy News that she and Behrens share a 2-year-old son, Brody Chase, and a son, Kenzo-Rayne Malachi, who was born at 18 weeks and died just minutes after his birth.

She woke up to the gush of her water breaking, but it still didn’t all come together. And even though she had been in labor before, it wasn’t until the contractions came that she realized what was happening.

She called her mother-in-law for help.

She needed some professional help — and quickly.

White knew she needed to get to the hospital fast, so she called for a ride. But she didn’t have time to wait because Luna-Grace was coming.

“I went to the toilet because I felt this really bad pressure and there was something coming out. I waddled back into my bedroom and it turned out it was her foot. I ended up calling an ambulance,” she told Kennedy News via the Post.

While en route to a helicopter transport in the ambulance, White delivered Luna-Grace. She only had minimal anesthesia, and the birth was tough.

“I had to deliver her in breech,” White said. She only had some oxygen and nitrous oxide to help ease her pain. “I was begging for morphine most of the time.”

Luna-Grace experienced mild complications.

According to her mom, Luna-Grace was diagnosed with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, or HIE, because of the complications of the breech birth. Nationwide Children’s Hospital explains HIE as “a type of brain damage. It’s caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain before or shortly after birth. It affects the central nervous system. Babies born with HIE may have neurological or developmental problems.”

It is unknown how the condition will affect Luna-Grace as she gets older.

The unexpected surprise went home when she was 10 days old.

Born at 37 weeks, Luna-Grace weighed 6 lb., 10 oz., according to a post on White’s Facebook page. The surprised new mom thanked friends and family for all of their help.

“On the 6.5.2023 I went into labour to our beautiful unexpected little girl. she was a little miracle baby who hid for the whole 9 months (more than likely)Luna-Grace Estelle Tracy Behrens weighing 6.10lb our little unexpected rainbow baby thank you to all the support me and Aiden Behrens have received over the last 2 days we love you all dearly,” she wrote.

White thinks Luna-Grace is her miracle.

After losing her second son, Luna-Grace was an unexpected rainbow baby, but she filled a place in her mother’s heart that she didn’t know was empty.

“She defied the odds. What she’s gone through, she’s doing brilliantly. Now I can’t imagine life without her. I like my life hectic, and she definitely keeps it hectic,” White told Kennedy News.

Even though she is thrilled to have her, she insists Luna-Grace is the end. “I was in the back of the ambulance asking them to take my womb out. I am done. I am currently having a blood test done to go on contraception,” she said.
