Receiving a call from your kiddo’s school can be nerve-racking. One mom was understandably super embarrassed when she found out the reason her son’s kindergarten teacher had contacted her: For some reason, her 5-year-old brought a condom to school.
Although the teacher assured the mom that her kid was not in trouble for bringing the condom, she still wanted to bring it to the mom’s attention.

The mom shared the unexpected text she received from her son's teacher.
In a video captioned with, “Guys, i cannot make this stuff up!,” Crystal, who goes by @mrs.starnes22 on TikTok, shared the text message her child’s teacher sent her. “Good Morning!” the message read. “Let me first say Hudson is NOT in trouble over this lol! He came up to me before recess and pulled this out of his pocket asking what this was.”
She continued, “I did not tell him what it was, just that I will dispose of it and let you know we discovered this!” She added a photo of a non-latex condom to the text.
The mom said she had 'no idea' where the condom came from.
The mom shared the rest of her exchange with the teacher, in which she told the teacher that she didn’t know where the condom came from. The teacher went on to say that she asked the 5-year-old where he found it, and he said, “he just found it in the pants when he put his hands in his pockets.”
The mom said the condom was not hers or her husband’s. “I think someone put it in (the pants) before we bought them,” the mom wrote in a text to the teacher. “How embarrassing! Haha. I’m so sorry.”

She said she just recently bought the jeans for her son.
When thinking about where the condom could’ve come from, the mom’s best guess was that someone put the condom in the pocket before she purchased the jeans at Walmart. In a follow-up video, she explained she recently went to the store and bought four or five pairs of jeans for her son. When she got him ready for school, she grabbed the new pair of jeans directly from the Walmart bag.
The mom’s theory confused some TikTok users.
“You think someone just sprinkled condoms in kids jeans around Walmart? 🤔,” one person commented on the video.
“Well, they didn’t come from us. So yes,” the mom responded.
People shared their theories in the comments.
Some people thought the mom’s theory made sense. “I could honestly see some teenagers doing this as a joke lol,” one person commented. Another person wrote, “Honestly that is a diabolical prank. [It] was probably teenagers at Walmart.”
Some people, however, seemed certain there was more to the story.
“I don’t even believe you 😂 there’s nothing to be embarrassed about staying safe,” one person commented.
Others were less friendly, and suggested that the condom might belong to her husband. “Baby I’m gonna hold your hand when I tell you this…” someone else wrote.
The mom explained the situation in more detail when speaking to People. “My husband and I have been together for 7 years,” she told the magazine. “Hudson turns 6 next month and I got my tubes tied when he was a baby, so we’ve not had any use for condoms in our home.”
Some people urged the mom to check her kid's clothes.
Although some people were quick to suggest that the woman’s husband might be cheating, others were merely concerned that the mom didn’t check or wash the jeans after buying them.
“You never know who has tried them on or messed with them,” one person warned.
The mom responded with, “You right girl, lesson learned for sure.”
