The 15 Craziest Baby Names of 2020

It would be an understatement to say that 2020 was an unusual year. After all, everyone in the world had to establish and get used to a "new normal." Many of our plans for the year were completely upended. It only makes sense then that out of this whirlwind of a year came some rather unique names. We scoured the internet and compiled a list of the most unusual baby names of 2020, which is arguably the craziest year many of us had in a while — or ever, honestly.

From babies named Corona (after a certain virus) and Klowee, click ahead for 15 one-of-a-kind baby names from this special year.

X Æ A-12

Grimes and Elon Musk gave birth to a baby boy in May and the technology and music couple definitely chose an unusual baby name: X Æ A-12. On how to pronounce it, Musk told Joe Rogan, "I mean it's just X, the letter X. And then, the Æ is, like, pronounced 'Ash'… and then, A-12, A-12 is my contribution." Uhhh… OK.

Buddy Dessert

Reality television star Brie Bella and her husband Bryan Danielson gave birth on July 31, 2020 to a son named Buddy Dessert Danielson. These choices aren't totally random. The first name came from the Danielson's father's name and the middle name is inspired by Brie's grandma's maiden name. Combined, it sounds like a character from Elf.

Rumble Honey

In October, model couple Nara Pellman and Lucky Blue Smith revealed the name of their new baby girl on Instagram. Her name is Rumble Honey, which sort of reminds us of a boxer or wrestler.

Corona

Corona does mean "crown" in Spanish, but it's also the name of the virus that pretty much flipped the world on its head this past year. A couple decided to honor the year by naming of of their twins after the virus. The name is honestly a little bit of a sore spot for us.

Covid

The same parents who named one child Corona named the other twin Covid. Well, at least they stayed on theme. If nothing else, they were inspired by a world-changing virus.

Tygrrr

The baby boy name Tygrrr is an undeniably unique baby boy name, especially given its spelling. Although, we appreciate the animalistic "grr" sound!

Lockdown

In India, a baby boy was named Lockdown, after the laws that were meant to keep people safe. "The lockdown is in national interest and so we decided to name the child as Lockdown," the father said.

No, that's not someone accidentally leaning on the keyboard. For a really unique name, these Filipino parents chose Coviduvidapdap. It's a combination of the virus that caused a global pandemic and Willie Revillame's Dubidubidapdap.

To make a name standout, some people have resorted to rather unique spelling. One name that surfaced this year was Klowee, which, we don't really know if we're into it. It's like Kardashian-lite, but even less elegant.

Country singer Frankie Ballard and wife Christina gave birth to their first daughter Pepper Lynn Ballard in February of this year. It's definitely a cute name but also on the more unusual side.
