TikTok Mom Was Stumped When Adorable Toddler Suddenly Became Terrified of Her Tablet

If you really examine your fears, you’ll find that most of them are irrational or will never come to pass. They’re just not logical. In our minds, however, our fears are a very real and present threat. And when you’re a child, constantly being exposed to new stimuli, taking in new information and learning what is safe and what isn’t, these fears can be heightened.

Those worries become so real that they lead to unexpected consequences — such as being terrified by the prospect of touching a decaying vegetable. One mom on TikTok was absolutely stunned when she realized why her toddler, Aspen, had suddenly become terrified of her tablet. Based on what she found, though, some of us can relate.

Aspen's mom noticed she was avoiding her tablet.

Her mom, Mia, who goes by the username @xmia__dollx on TikTok, noticed that her daughter was behaving unusually with her tablet. She was either avoiding it entirely or staring at the back instead of at the screen.

Eventually, Mia decided to investigate. When she inspected the tablet, she found a piece of wilted lettuce that she assumed Aspen must have thought was an insect.

Aspen evidently thought the piece of lettuce was a bug.

In the video, Aspen is crying hard and running from the tablet as her mother tries to explain to her that what she thinks is a bug is actually a small piece of lettuce that Aspen placed back there in the first place.

But the terrified toddler wasn’t hearing her. To solve the problem once and for all, Mia took a wipe and removed the lettuce from the back of the tablet.

A lot of people on TikTok understood Aspen's fear of insects.

The video has been viewed more than 1.7 million times. A lot of the viewers understand and share Aspen’s fear of bugs.

“It looks like a bug to be fair,” one user wrote.

“She’s just like me,” another wrote.

Other commenters were more dramatic in their interpretations.

“Nah cause I thought it was a squished scorpion,” another user shared.

One commenter mentioned that kids generally have no fear of things that actually can hurt them.

Another person marveled at the way kids are afraid of some things and often not the things that can actually harm them, writing, “Babys be scared of everything but the batteries and dirty pennys they be eatin .”

Again, our fears aren’t always rational. And in defense of the babies, pennies and batteries are a lot shinier and more intriguing than smushed lettuce or creepy, crawly bugs. We'd be totally skeeved if we thought a bug was stuck to our tablets too!
