Children donât come with an instruction manual. Itâs a clichĂ© saying, but thereâs a reason people have worn out the phrase. Anticipating a childâs needs and occasionally failing to do so are a very real part of parenthood.
Watching your young child attempt to communicate a need â usually with tears â can be heart-wrenching. The frustration of watching your child struggle is only compounded by feelings of guilt and inadequacy.
A sleep-deprived mom called herself the worst.
One mom (Hannah) documented her journey with her daughterâs one-year sleep regression. In a video, Hannah looks at the camera, appearing sleep-deprived. She says, âIf you ever think that you are a bad mom, just know that I beat you to it.â
The mom then explained that her daughter is going through a sleep regression.
Despite spending four hours with her, she couldn't console her daughter.
She continued, sharing that sheâs been breastfeeding her daughter for the entire year but she didnât realize that her milk had dried up.
Hannahâs daughter woke up in the middle of the night and was inconsolable. She tried to breastfeed her daughter. The little one latched and Hannah thought she was drinking. But she was still awake.
Finally, Hannah decided to warm some milk from the freezer.
Before then, the toddler had been up for four hours. Trying to do anything to make it better, this mom gave her daughter pain medicine, let her cry in her crib, let her play, put her in bed. None of it worked.
Finally, completely drained, Hannah decided that she just couldnât latch her daughter anymore. Instead, she decided to warm up some milk for her.
Her daughter drank the bottle and went to sleep.
Her daughter screamed for the bottle and then drank it cold. As soon as she finished the bottle, she went right to sleep.
Teary, Hannah says, âI was getting frustrated with my daughter for being thirsty.â
Thankfully, the comment section was full of people who were supportive.
Moms came to Hannah's page to offer support.
âDonât ever think youâre a bad mom, you did everything you knew to do. Youâre a great mom! Side note, that 12m sleep regression is killer ,â one user wrote.
âAll I heard is you never gave up and found a solution. Best mom!â another woman commented.
Thankful to them all, Hannah shared, âThis comment section is proof that in times of need MOMS come together. I love each and every one of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.â
