One way to get your kid to take a nap is to use good ol’ psychology to trick them into it. That’s what one mom did when her son, who calls himself a “workman,” or construction worker, refused to nap under the claim that workmen simply don’t need naps. She shared a video on TikTok to call out other “work men” and ask them what their nap schedules are like. Thankfully, the results did not disappoint.
The mom, who has made other videos about her son and has since shared updates about her mini work man, shafted a follow-up video to show that the internet’s help in getting her son to nap actually worked. But the real prize here is what the workmen and workwomen shared in the comments to help the mom out. All together now … awww.
The mom asked the internet for help in getting her son to nap.

The mom begins her video by saying, “This message is for workmans.” This is, of course, an obvious reference to how her son says the word and how he understands it, and it only adds another adorable layer to the video. The mom makes a call to action for people who “know a workman” or who is a workman to comment about whether they take naps.
Although it’s all an elaborate effort to convince her son that workmen take naps so he needs to as well, the responses in the comment section prove that literally everyone understood the assignment.
One fellow workman wrote, “As a certified workman i can safely answer this question. We take naps, we eat all our veggies, and we always listen to our mothers.”
Another one commented, “All Workmen take naps, eat healthy meals and snacks, and drink a lot of water because we work hard! Always, pay attention, listen and follow instructions so you can be a safe workman!”
Although the mom’s son has no way to actually read the comments, it looks like there was an unspoken agreement among everyone to comment under the video as if he could.
“I’m a workman,” another user commented for the benefit of the mom and her son. “I build big bridges across rivers and bays. Every day after lunch I take a nap. [It] makes me stronger and a better workman.”
She later shared some updates about her little guy.

After she shared the video about trying to get her little workman to sleep, she posted another one to give everyone an update. In it, she shows the video baby monitor screen of her son asleep for his clearly much-needed nap. She continued to share more random updates about her son, including videos of him during all the other “workmans” to have a good day.
It’s honestly so wholesome that you can’t help but love the way it brought tons of users together.
On a short form video app where there can be a lot of snark, workmen coming together to help a mom out is kind of amazing. Will it always work to get her son to do something that’s good for him? Probably not. But hey, it apparently got him to nap, and that’s half the battle sometimes.
