On Grey’s Anatomy, actor Chris Carmack plays resident hottie Dr. Atticus Lincoln, a character who unexpectedly became a dad a couple of seasons ago. In real life though, he already had a bit of parenting experience under his belt. Chris and his wife Erin Slaver, have a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old.
A while back, Chris started been sharing some of his parenting takes on TikTok, and OMG — we had no idea how funny he is. Chris has lots of fans thanks to his work as an actor, but his relatable parenting and marriage videos have taken our love for him to a new level.
In one of our favorite TikToks, Chris explains what his kids think their parents are doing when they go to bed.
In one recent video, Chris and Erin explain why his kids don’t want to go to bed.
He depicts slow-motion scenes of what his kids think their parents must be doing. For example, pouring chocolate syrup all over a milk carton before drinking it, no cup involved. The scene then cuts to what Chris and his wife are actually doing: washing dishes.
Another scenario imagines them eating raw cookie dough, dressed in costumes, watching a movie. But they’re actually organizing the silverware drawer.
In the caption for the video, Chris writes: “I wouldn’t want to go to bed either.”
In another video, Chris shows the various stages of Halloween.
The TikTok shows Chris and Erin dressed up as kids, when the goal was just to be as scary as possible and collect all the candy.
Then he shows the dating stage, when sexiness was key.
The video ends with the married with kids stage, where the parents aren’t wearing costumes at all. The kids are all dressed up, mom is sleep-deprived and dad is fighting to limit extreme candy consumption.
There's also the family dinner video, complete with a cast full of characters.
In another video, Chris portrays the different characters at a typical family dinner. There’s the mom, barely able to eat because she’s wrestling with a child, the older child who’s drowned the meal in ketchup, the overly critical mother-in-law, and the dad, who dares not complain, eating everything in sight. It’s alarmingly accurate, and So. Damn. Funny.
Our favorite is the 'Rain check' video.
All of the videos will give you a good chuckle, but the one that took me out was “The Rain Check.” In it, Chris is on the phone, presumably with one of his buddies. He receives an invitation to go out and he’s excited to accept.
But then, he catches a glimpse of his wife, holding their baby, looking at him accusingly and he instantly knows it’s best that he opt out and ask for a rain check. Smart man.
