People Are Questioning if They Even Want Kids After Seeing Unruly Behavior at ‘Minecraft’ Movie

A clip that shows kids’ chaotic behavior at a screening of A Minecraft Movie, has some people thinking that maybe parenthood isn’t for them. In the video, the mom explained that she thought she was taking her kids to “a casual movie night.” She was not prepared for the chaos that later ensued.

The clip shows her kids rushing into the theater, but it all went downhill from there. Her kids seemed excited as they prepared to enter the theater to watch A Minecraft Movie. But what happened during the movie screening was shocking to the mom.

Numerous kids in the theater were screaming, jumping up and down repeatedly, and throwing their popcorn around the theater throughout the film. Over the past couple weeks, kids’ disruptive behavior at A Minecraft Movie screenings across the country has made headlines and prompted some movie theaters to take action. Per Variety, some theaters have warned that “excessive noise” and other disruptive behaviors are not acceptable. People who behave in this way could be asked to leave.

The mom’s video has some people rethinking parenthood.

Reacting to the video shared on Reddit, some critics suggested that the kids’ behavior at the movie screening made being a parent seem pretty unappealing.

One person shared that the clip functioned as “a pretty effective condom ad,” while another joked that it could also be dubbed “Birth Control the Movie.” A third critic added that “most kids have zero respect for anyone these days.” After watching the clip, a fourth person noted they were “so glad (they) don’t have kids.”

But adults weren’t the only ones disgusted by the unruly behavior. Several parents said they took their kids to see the film and their children were so disappointed by how the other kids behaved. “My kid was not happy watching other kids act like this,” one parent wrote. “He was more mad than me and he’s only 9.”

Another parent commented, “My kids would not go to the theatre because they didn’t want to be implicated in this.”

Many people blame social media.

Several critics blamed “brain rot” and social media trends for the disruptive behavior. Social media has turned some kids and teens into “little clout chasers,” another person wrote.

“This is why kids shouldn’t have social media…” one person argued. A second added, “This is what happens when you train your kids to be influencers.”

In another thread about the same topic, another person shared, “Add movie theaters to the list of things social media ruined.”

But others blamed parents.

To some critics, blaming social media seemed a bit unfair. After all, where were their parents during the movie?

“People blaming TikTok or whatever but … what about the parents?” one person pointed out. “Are all these kids completely unsupervised or with parents so disinterested that they may as well be?”

Another commenter urged parents to “teach them to be a bit more considerate of others or watch it at home instead.” That person called the behavior “disgusting” and “inexcusable” before asking another question: “Are none of those children raised properly? That’d be the last time I take them out to the movies. The screaming is the least of it. It’s inexcusable to vandalize and destroy a movie theater like that.”

Some parents pointed out that in addition to being extremely disruptive and disrespectful, many kids were wasting their popcorn by throwing it around the theater. “That kid just launching $40 of popcorn….That’s me never taking you to the cinema again,” one person wrote.

Others, however, suspected their parents simply dropped them off at the theater and had “no idea” their kids were acting like that.
