I say all the time, "the babies have to get here." Essentially, what I mean is that the souls that are supposed to make their way to this world, find a way to do so, sometimes against all odds and even amid unusual circumstances.
That was certainly the case for one young mother who has given birth to two sets of twins, back to back. That alone would have made for a remarkable story. But what’s even more unusual, is the fact that Kaitlin Brooks was using birth control each time she got pregnant.
Kaitlin has a condition that will result in twins every pregnancy.
Kaitlin had two sets of twins by the time she was 21. Now, 22, she says she has a condition where she releases two eggs each time she ovulates.
“My doctor told me that every time I get pregnant, it will be twins because I drop two eggs every time,” Kaitlin told The New York Post.
Kaitlin was equally shocked with both pregnancies because she was on the pill.
That’s certainly what’s happened so far. In March 2019, she learned she was expecting her first set of twins: Denver and Dayton. By their first birthday she got the news that she was expecting her second set, a boy and a girl: Piper and Pierce.
“It was a surprise again and another shock for me,” Kaitlin said. “I definitely didn’t think it was twins again. I found out that I was pregnant a little bit earlier on when I was three weeks and found out they were twins at six weeks.”
Now Kaitlin is considering other forms of birth control.
Kaitlin, a full-time single mother, has thought about getting her tubes tied because birth control has proven ineffective. But she's still not sure about doing so at such a young age. In the meantime, she’s considering becoming a surrogate for women who are unable to carry their own children to term.
She certainly regards her own children as miracles. “I feel that what’s happened is a miracle because for the longest time I didn’t think I could get pregnant,” she said.
Kaitlin says she is done having kids of her own.
Kaitlin is also clear that she is done having kids. “Knowing that if I fall pregnant again I’ll have multiples again is scary because I don’t see how I could do another set,” she told NY Post. There are of course, those who wonder how she manages with the four she has now.
“People are very shocked when I tell them that I’ve got two sets of twins because I’m only 22,” Kaitlin said. “A lot of people are shocked and they’re like, ‘I don’t see how you do it?’ and I was like, ‘I don’t really have a choice you know, this is my life.'”
