Woman Vows To Keep Hiding Her Pregnancy So She’s Not Passed Over for Stage Roles

You know how some moms-to-be can’t wait to shout from the rooftops that they’re pregnant? Yeah, that’s not one TikToker’s problem. In fact, the woman, who goes by @bagelplss online, wants to keep her pregnancy so quiet that she’s taken to dressing specifically to hide her pregnancy from the people around her.

“I just don’t feel like telling people,” she explained.

The soon-to-be mama recently went viral for a video, where she shared that at five months pregnant, she’s keeping her good news all to herself.

Bagelplss, or "I love bagels," as she also jokingly calls herself on her page, explained that as an opera student getting her master's degree, it’s just more worth it for her to wait until graduation before spilling the beans.

“That means I have to go to school and rehearsal and things, and hide my belly,” she said in the footage from March 25.

At 20 weeks, the mom explained that it was getting harder to hide the bump, which is why she turned to TikTok to share all of her bump-hiding skills.

People in the comments were stunned that the TikToker was trying to keep her belly hidden for so long.

"I had to start wearing maternity clothes at 14 weeks so I absolutely would not have been able to hide it at 20 weeks," one commenter wrote.

"Lol I’m a nurse and I had to tell people at 5 weeks because of my job. We can’t look after certain patients," another person lamented.

"I’m currently 24+2 with #3 and no way can I hide mine," a third person chimed in. "You’re lucky yours is lovely and neat mines like a watermelon."

Other people shared that they also kept their pregnancies hush hush.

"I'm 30 weeks pregnant and I'm still hiding my pregnancy, with the exception of a few friends and family! Good luck!" one commenter admitted.

"I'm 26 weeks and no one knows," someone else shared.

Another person explained that try as they might, they just weren't able to make it to the finish line: "I kept mine secret up until about month 7 and then decided the world wouldn’t end if I told a few friends. Everyone knew within a week."

In a second video, the singer went into more detail and said that if people in her program knew she was pregnant they would “handicap” her over “the stupidest things.”

“While I don’t agree with it — I don’t want them to pass me up for opportunities because I am pregnant,” she explained.

Plus, she’s only keeping it a secret from the people she goes to school with, so “the people that need to know, know,” she added.

She said her friends and family are all “very excited” for the baby — unlike her peers and teachers who don’t know a thing.

She added that she’s not worried about anyone finding her videos because she and her friends at school are “very united” and she trusts that they won’t squeal.

“I just don’t want to announce,” she said, but she also realized that her decision isn't for everyone.

“Pregnancy announcements aren’t for me but they are for so many!" she wrote in the video’s caption. "Whatever you decide is your choice and I 100% support that.”
