After eight years of battling cancer, former Beverly Hills 90210 star Shannen Doherty is sharing a sad update with fans. In a video she shared on her Instagram account this week, Shannen revealed that her cancer has spread to her brain.

Shannen hinted earlier this week that something was up.
First, she shared a video on Instagram that she captioned "January 9, 2023." The video showed a process that many cancer patients are familiar with — she was getting fitted for a radiation mask for treatment.
This left fans with more questions than answers, but it wasn't long before she shared a follow-up.
She later shared another video from her mask fitting.
This time, she had a sad update to share: The cancer has spread to her brain. In the video, we can see that she's crying as she's fitted for the mask.
"On January 5th, my CT scan showed Mets in my brain. Yesterday's video was showing the process of getting fitted for the mask which you wear during radiation to your brain. January 12, the first round of radiation took place," she wrote.
"My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at Cedars-Sinai. But that fear … The turmoil … the timing of it all … This is what cancer can look like."
She has been very open about her cancer journey.
Though she was first diagnosed in early 2015, she had been in remission for years. But in 2020, Shannen shared that her cancer was now stage 4, calling it a "bitter pill to swallow" in an interview with ABC News.
"I definitely have days where I say 'why me.' And then I go, well, why not me? Who else? Who else besides me deserves this? None of us do," she said at the time.
A lot has been going on in Shannen's life this year.
In April, Shannen filed for divorce from her husband, Kurt Iswarienko. In a statement about the proceedings, her rep hinted that infidelity had been involved.
"Unfortunately, she felt she was left with no other option. You can contact Kurt’s agent, Collier Grimm at PICTUREKID, as she is intimately involved," read the statement.

We can't imagine what she must be going through right now, but we're sending her all the healthy and healing vibes. There's truly no question that she's helping people and their families who are going through similar health battles by being so open about her own.
