Teen Girl Smiles in Court Before Bursting Into Tears After Allegedly Killing Both of Her Parents

Sarah Grace Patrick, a Georgia teen who has been charged with the murder of her mom and stepdad, was seen smiling during a recent court appearance. Those smiles quickly turned to tears when she began hearing testimony. The girl was arrested after her 6-year-old sister found the bodies of Kristin Brock and James Brock, who had been shot to death. Patrick is allegedly the one who called 911. She also allegedly reached out to true crime influencers, asking them to cover the story.

On August 19, 2025, Sarah Grace Patrick appeared in a Carroll County courtroom, video shared by Court TV shows. When she entered, she was all smiles as she hugged her attorneys before sitting down. But as she began hearing testimony from her pastor, friends, and the woman who took her in after her parents’ murders, her demeanor began to change.

The woman who took her in, identified on the stand as Kaitlin O’Keefe, seemed to affect the teen. O’Keefe, who said she was a friend of Patrick’s father, explained in the video that she took the teen shopping for new clothes and other necessities after the murders. After that, the teen ended up moving in.

“She would cry and sob, and I would watch her grieve,” O’Keefe said.

While Patrick was in O’Keefe’s care, she said she had “not even one” problem with the girl regarding discipline. She went so far as to say the teen was “a pleasure.”

Further along in her testimony, according to Court TV, O’Keefe revealed that 17-year-old Patrick worked hard enough to graduate high school a year early. She was allegedly on track to do so before the murders and maintained the course. The woman talked about how Patrick would find the motivation to finish her homework by thinking about her mom.

“There were some rough times, but when we found a peaceful moment, I’d be like, ‘let’s get your schoolwork done. Let’s make your mom proud by showing her you finished this,’” O’Keefe said. “That was a big goal for Sarah.”

As the woman spoke, the teen broke down in tears, wiping her eyes with a tissue. Her shoulders shook as she began to sob while listening. The tears continued as one of her friends, seen wearing a shirt that says “I Stand with Sarah Patrick,” testified, according to Court TV.

The young woman, Caitlyn Jensen, talked about how she wasn’t allowed to stay at Patrick’s house once she moved in with her mom and stepdad. However, Jensen would pick her up, and they would spend time at Jensen’s house, listening to music and playing with her son.

Following the appearance in court, a judge ordered that Sarah remain in jail, People reported. She was also denied bond. The teen has yet to be indicted, the judge said. Her arraignment has been scheduled for September 22. A motive for the killings has yet to be revealed.
