Sa’iyda Shabazz is a longtime freelance writer and editor who writes at the intersections of parenting, race, sexuality, gender, and socioeconomic status. A former writer and editor at Scary Mommy, her parenting work has also been featured on Romper, SheKnows, the New York Times and The Washington Post. Other bylines include Autostraddle and Upworthy, and her own pop culture newsletter released through Substack. Sa’iyda lives in Los Angeles with her wife, son, and too many pets. When she isn’t writing, she can be found in the kitchen perfecting her chocolate chip cookie recipe, having friends over for a delicious meal, or sitting on the couch reading a romance novel.
