There are plenty of things about Donald Trump‘s plans and orders for the United States that opposing sides have a lot to say about. But one thing (I hope) most of us can agree on is the fact that Trump’s orange skin tone is unmatched. Literally, it does not match his neck or his ears more often than not. And, in a Reddit thread about his orange complexion, one user speculated on if Trump has somehow gotten more orange.
In the post, the Reddit user shared a photo of Trump from the Sept. 21, 2025 memorial for the late conservative activist and podcast host Charlie Kirk. They wrote that, in the photo, Trump has a “disturbingly orange face.” Users in the comments shared their own thoughts about Trump’s orange complexion and why they believe his skin has gotten darker and more prominent in a very un-human-like hue.

Trump’s orange complexion is often the butt of jokes.
In the Reddit thread, other users replied with jokes about Trump’s orange skin color and how, in the photo in the post at least, it does look a lot more orange, as in a darker shade, than usual. Someone even referred to his face as “peanut butter tan,” and honestly, I can’t unsee that now. Because in some photos, including the one in the post, Trump’s face is beyond the typical light orange color that we’ve all come to expect.
That still doesn’t explain why Trump’s face is always colored in such a way and why his complexion doesn’t match his ears most of the time. It’s like his makeup artist slaps on flobs of the only concealer that will work for Trump and then gives up once they reach about a half of an inch in front of his ears. Oh, and his eyelids also appear to be free from the orange color that covers the rest of his face.
“When my grandma started doing her makeup like this, we knew it was time to hide the car keys,” someone commented on the thread, likely in reference to their elderly grandmother being diagnosed with dementia or something close to it.
Another user wrote, “You’d think with all that money they could put some orange on his ears too,” to which someone pointed out that there is, at least, some orange on Trump’s earlobe, so there’s that.
“Genuinely how do his followers just accept him as looking like this,” another critic commented. “It’s a HARD line between his makeup and his real skin.”
It could just be the lighting in the photo. Depending on when Trump is seen, whether it’s at the Charlie Kirk memorial or on the White House lawn talking to the press, the shade of orange on his face tends to change a bit. In a makeup subreddit, someone asked why Trump’s makeup looks so orange and why no one has corrected it.
In the thread, other makeup artists theorized that it’s a dark spray tan that Trump has used on his face. Someone else wrote that they believe Trump might be trying to cover up rosacea and think that the color palate he uses does that. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t really help.
