The famous reality family from TLC’s Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has been through a scary experience this week. Over the weekend, June Shannon — better known as Mama June — shared a video on Instagram filling her followers in on daughter Alana Thompson‘s car wreck that left her “banged up” and prompted Alana’s boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, to call her mom in a bit of a panic.
Alana is currently living across the country from her family as she pursues a degree in nursing at Regis University in Denver, Colorado, and unfortunately, that meant that her mom wasn’t able to get to her right away when the scary moment took place last week — something that June said she “hates” about her daughter being a 23-hour drive away.
“We get a phone call around 3 o’clock and Dralin is pale white,” June said in the video. “Alana is screaming in the background.”
She went on to explain that Alana’s car had been T-boned by a 23-year-old boy who admitted that he was speeding.
Alana was taken to the hospital with “back pain” and “headache issues” after the crash, and in the caption of her post, June added that her daughter is now “resting.”
“It could’ve been a lot worse than it was,” she wrote. “She is banged up a little bit but other than that she is OK first car wreck.”
As June shared in her post, Alana was on her way to get her hair done and was supposed to begin her first day of “clinicals” for her nursing degree later that day, but she was ultimately unable to make it because of the accident.
June wasted no time hopping on a flight to Denver so that she could be there to check on her daughter and help her get set up with a rental car to use. In a later update that she shared after she’d arrived in Denver and had been able to see the car, June said that Alana was “very lucky” to have walked away from the accident.
“She’s able to talk to us, she’s able to spend time with us, but I can tell that she is off a little bit from normal,” June said, adding that Alana had almost been at a complete stop when the car hit her. “I am very grateful that young boy did say that he was speeding through there.”
