Critics Say Mar-a-Lago ‘Furry’ Party Looks Like Horror Movie About Rich People

At this point, I’ve stopped trying to figure out what goes on at Donald Trump’s Florida home and resort Mar-a-Lago. Although it’s not open to the public, miraculously, videos often emerge on social media to show us normies what it’s like in there and how the other half live. But after a video surfaced showing what appears to be a Marie Antoinette furry party, I’m good.

The video, which cuts between a couple in masks dancing alone on the dance floor to other party guests in similar outfits with masks of their own, shows an inside look at a poolside event. It’s not clear what the event was, but text on the screen says that Trump was present for the event. It’s just plain creepy, though. Someone in the comments under the video on TikTok even noted that “this feels like it’s straight out of a horror movie about a bunch of rich people who hunt poor people.”

Wait, did Mar-a-Lago actually host a party for furries?

The footage from the party shows numerous guests in elaborate gowns and suits accompanied by animal face masks. Was there actually a furry party of some kind at the resort? In the traditional sense, probably not. But the odd footage shows people in animal masks, and no one removes them while they are filmed.

There are some guests not wearing masks, so apparently this part was mask-optional, but there still isn’t an explanation in the video for the theme, purpose, or real for the Mar-a-Lago party. The party-goers are not furries, which are, per Furscience, part of a larger community of artists and role players. But that might make the masks seem even more outlandish, especially given the exclusivity of being a member of the club at Mar-a-Lago.

According to People, the party at Mar-a-Lago was the 15th Annual Hero Dog Awards Gala for The American Humane Society. OK, that makes more sense. But we still aren’t letting it go that easily that the richer than rich people who frequent Mar-a-Lago are just plain odd. The video proves that, whether you like it or not.

After the video blew up on TikTok, the comments were flooded with jokes and questions about the party. Although it appears that entertainers, rather than actual guests, were dressed in the dog masks, people aren’t letting this go.

One user commented, “Why do I feel like I am watching the Capital in The Hunger Games?” “These people are millionaires and billionaires,” someone else added. “Why do these parties always look so cheap and cheesy?”

The official account for the press office of Gov. Gavin Newsom even got in on the fun in, well, making fun of the video, on X (formerly Twitter). On a post with screenshots from the video, the person in charge of Newsom’s press account wrote, “Why is Donald Trump hosting a FURRY PARTY???”

Mar-a-Lago is an expensive club to join.

Trump lives in the White House, but he also has a private residence at Mar-a-Lago. Members can stay in the guest houses, though to be a member, it costs a pretty penny. The cost is clearly meant to keep out the riff-raff, as far as those in Trump’s inner circle are concerned. According to World Red Eye, in 2024, the membership fee increased from $700,000 to $1 million.

Mar-a-Lago has a maximum limit of 500 members, so parties and events at Trump’s resort are as exclusive as you can get. They are also, apparently, as weird as possible for the millionaires and billionaires who spend their money on the fundraising events held at Mar-a-Lago.
