What could have been a possible jealous moment ended in potential murder charges. A woman in Spain allegedly killed her partner, but as of right now, no one knows why. Currently, it’s being speculated that jealousy may have been a factor in the woman’s decision, but she is allegedly owning up to committing the crime. The couple, who are older, had been in a relationship for years, and those who knew them claimed that the killing came out of nowhere. But it only proves that despite what we may believe about people, we never know what’s happening when no one’s watching.
The 55-year-old woman, who has not been named, was arrested in Bilbao, Spain, on January 30, 2026, according to a translated media release from the autonomous police force Ertzaintza. She has been accused of killing her 67-year-old partner.
“The Ertzaintza went to a home in Bilbao’s Uribarri neighborhood after receiving a report of a suspected homicide,” the statement read. Officials added that police discovered a body inside that looked like it “suffered a violent death.”
The police noted that the woman accused of killing her partner was in the home when police arrived. She also reportedly confessed to the crime. She was taken into police custody under suspicion of murder.
The woman has an adult daughter, who called the authorities when her mother confessed to the crime, El Diario Vasco reported via People.
According to the outlet, the man had stab wounds on his body, including his neck. His penis was also allegedly severed.
A motive for the attack has yet to be established, the outlet reported. Some say it may have been jealousy. Neighbors said they heard the couple, who have been together for five years, arguing loudly prior to the incident.
“I’m in shock. We never expected this, and certainly not in the way it happened,” a friend told El Diario Vasco, per People. “When I finished work, I would always have a beer or a moscato on the terrace with them. They talked, they laughed. There has to be something behind this.
“No one knows what happens inside people’s homes. They seemed like a normal couple, not toxic at all,” she added.
Speaking about the woman who killed her partner, another neighbor also seemed to be in disbelief, saying, “They seemed like the perfect couple.”
