5-Year-Old & 6 Others Injured When ‘Small’ Explosive Device Was Randomly Thrown Into Beauty Salon

Imagine you’re sitting and getting your hair colored at the beauty salon. You couldn’t get a babysitter, so you had to bring your little one with you. Getting hair done is a long process, so your kid is getting antsy, but everyone is bustling around and trying to make the time pass more quickly. Then, all of a sudden, you hear an explosion and realize it’s happened in the salon. That’s what a group of people in France recently encountered. They were unsuspecting victims of a random attack with an explosive while they were just going about their day. Thankfully, there were no fatalities.

The incident took place in downtown Grenoble on February 6, 2026, around 2:45 p.m., France 3 reported. According to the national police, six people were injured, one of them a 5-year-old child, according to AFP.

A local government office, the Isère Prefecture, noted that none of the people involved was seriously injured or required hospitalization. All were treated at the scene.

“I heard a huge explosion and three young girls screaming, they were accompanied by a child,” a local business owner told France 3 in a translation of the story.

“I quickly got outside; it looked like a huge car accident,” she added. “Now, I can’t even see the street because there are so many fire trucks and people. It’s not very reassuring. There are so many people, and it’s complete chaos.”

A video was uploaded to Instagram several hours after the attack. It’s unknown who shared the footage, but it appears to be from the perspective of those who committed the crime. A heavily masked figure can be seen forcing the door open and throwing something into the beauty salon. The person then begins running, and the person filming does so as well.

The public prosecutor of Grenoble, Étienne Manteaux, called the explosive device “small,” France 3 reported He said he believes it was meant to scare and intimidate rather than cause harm.

According to France 3, no arrests have been made in relation to the beauty salon incident.
