As Duggar followers continue to try to wrap their minds around Kendra and Joseph Duggar‘s arrest, we have a new peek into what the day Kendra was taken into custody was actually like. On March 20, the 27-year-old former reality star turned herself in at the Washington County jail, and now, we have the booking footage that shows what was going on during her arrest.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department has released Kendra’s booking video from last Friday after she was charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree and four counts of false imprisonment in the second degree. As People reported, Kendra can be seen in the video dressed very casually in an oversized t-shirt and jeans (yes, jeans — we’ll come back to that later) along with slides.
Kendra appeared to leave all of her jewelry, including her wedding ring, at home, suggesting that she’d been prepared for what to expect when this moment came just two days after Joseph was arrested on separate charges involving a different incident on March 18.
She only seemed to spend about 90 minutes at the jail.
According to People, Kendra arrived at the jail just before 5 p.m. and seemed to spend less than two hours there before she was released. After she was searched, Kendra was moved into a different room, and then led out of that room by a jail guard.
After her $1,470 bail was posted, Kendra was able to leave, and her mother-in-law, Michelle Duggar, was the one who picked her up when she was released.
She and Joseph (who remains in custody at the same facility Kendra turned herself into) are scheduled to appear in court on April 29, so we should know more about their fates then. In addition to also facing the same charges that Kendra was hit with, Joseph has also been accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl in 2020 in Bay County, Florida, where he’s expected to be extradited soon.
People have a lot of opinions about the video — and what Kendra was wearing at the time.
Over the years, the ladies of the Duggar family have stopped wearing strictly skirts and dresses in favor of pants and shorts, but Kendra wasn’t one of them — until this booking video, anyway. So understandably, some critics on Reddit are a bit thrown for a loop.
“I’m in shock. She was the last one I’d ever think would wear pants,” one commenter wrote. “Even in that one group post from the gym or whatever last year she was wearing a skirt over leggings I think. But it makes sense though, these people love to preach one thing and then secretly do another.”
Another added, “To think her nickname used to be ‘Giggles’ is actually quite sad… that girl is gone now.”
