After Jill Duggar got married to husband Derick Dillard and moved out of her parents’ home, she slowly began to take on a style of her own. Flash forward several years and her look often appears to be more boho and Phish concert goer than anything else, complete with dreadlocks added to her hair. But when someone shared a photo on Reddit from Jill’s Instagram to show that her dreads came back when Derick left home for basic training camp for the Marines, not everyone was impressed.
Some people pointed out that Jill is a Donald Trump supporter and that she is a bit of a tradwife. Those are two characteristics that you probably wouldn’t normally find in someone who sports dreads, even if they aren’t part of Jill’s real hair but are instead clip-ins of some kind.
Jill Duggar is at it again with those dreadlocks.
Let’s be clear. This isn’t the first time Jill felt the need to sport dreads or a different look than her conservative siblings. But it’s apparently one that she felt the need to go back to. Maybe it’s her way of reinventing herself again in the absence of her headship, I mean husband. But it definitely has people talking.
Someone on Reddit commented that this is what happens “when you don’t get to express yourself as a teenager.” Another user responded to that comment with, “Exactly. Joy posted something pretty cringe recently and someone said something similar and made me realize it’s like they’re just now going through their teenager phases.”
A Redditor also commented to share the general vibe that Jill’s dreadlocks give off.
“Why does Jill look like a chick I’d kick it with at a Phish or Grateful Dead concert?!” They wrote.
There is also speculation about what, exactly, the dreadlocks are when it comes to Jill. Did she actually get her hair done in a way to have real dreads mixed in? Or is the look just the result of a tangled mess of hair that she rarely gets trimmed?
She is still a staunch conservative and Trump supporter.
Just because Jill is showing off this look on social media, it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t still have the same pro-MAGA and pro-Donald Trump views that she and Derick have never been shy about sharing with the world. She might look a bit alt, but that’s definitely not the case when it comes to things that matter, and those who aren’t fans of the Duggars as a whole did not forget this.
“The locs and choosing to be a co-dependent tradwife who voted for Trump is WILD,” a Redditor commented on the post.
Another person agreed, “Yeah. Crunchy hippie granola moms that are also diehard MAGA are one of the weirdest demographics to me. Like ewwww. This woman is sporting dreadlocks but also extremely obsessed with Trump. Yuck.”
Someone else joked that if someone were to ask Jill if she smells like patchouli, her response would be, “Actually it’s church incense from the Christian supply store.”
But people think they know who Jill would be in another life.
Other people on the Reddit thread posted about who they think Jill might have been, had she not grown up in an ultra conservative home on reality TV.
“She looks like those girls who always have weed and have rich and well connected parents,” a user wrote. “They also go tree planting for exotic life experience.”
Someone else joked that Jill “looks soooo into frisbee golf.” Another said that Jill’s hair is giving a “Warped Tour vibe.” Really, though, her dreadlocks seem to be either the product of a clip-in extension or just very tangled hair styled into a long braid.
