When it comes to a mother's love for her son, absolutely nothing can stand in the way — not even the Mormon church. At least, that's what David Archuleta's mom says. Lupe knew that she ultimately had to leave the church behind to support her son

David's mom said she made a major decision to support her son.

"My mom said, 'I'm going to step away from the church.' And I was like, 'What?' And she just said, 'If you're going to hell, we're all going to hell together,'" he recalled. "She just kind of said it in a funny way."

"It was sweet that she said, 'I'm with you wherever you go,'" David continued. "That was really sweet."

David marveled over how far his mom had come

While David didn't say exactly how long it took Lupe to change her tune about her faith, he did explain just how proud he was to see her opening her mind the way she did.

"It was really sweet to see her now at the point where she said, 'I don't want to leave my family just to follow God.' She's like, 'I can follow God and accept my son,'" he added.
